Course Curriculum Overview

5

The specific aspect of this curriculum which influenced my decision to choose this course was mainly for pursuing my career in research. The curriculum prepares me really well for the future as I'll be able to pursue any career in the lab and it will be highly beneficial for further academic pursuits which will give me a high degree. The improvements needed are in the lab facilities. If the teachers want the students to get a clear idea of the theory, they need to emphasize more on the practical side of Biotechnology. This will help students to get an understanding of how to perform in the lab in the working sector. The timing of exams for midterms are 1 hour 15 mins. The timing of exams for Terminal Exams are for 2 hours 30 mins. The difficulty level varies according to the amount of time given for preparation and the knowledge level of the student. If a main subject is given only 1 or 2 days for preparation, then the difficulty level will be very high

Fees and Financial Aid

The detailed fee structure per year comes upto ?1,26,000. Registration fees come upto ?5000, admission fees about 5,500. The uniform charges comes upto ?4100 which is ?3500 for uniform and ?600 for the lab coat. It's a hassle because once every month we have to pay some fee or the other. My batchmates are paying lesser amounts since they've studied in India itself while I'm an NRI which gives additional fees. I'm not familiar with any scholarships which are there for college students.

Campus Life

5

My overall experience in the campus is fine. I'm not really that involved with any events or club activities since I'm new here. Kristu Jayanti College conducts feats, social events, exhibitions, academic conferences and seminars. They also conduct sports events, guest lectures, student outreach programs and cultural celebrations. It happens at any time during the academic year, only the festivals and cultural events are conducted after the exams. The facilities provided are big classrooms, free WiFi and good washrooms. A lot of sports events happen on the campus almost every time. There are many extracurricular activities in which every students participate in which can be beneficial for their future pursuits. Social groups, clubs and student portals can have an impact on student's life both positively and negatively

Admission

I applied to several colleges abroad for MBBS but none of them were a success. I even applied for Karunya University, but I couldn't pay the entry fees since it was a very high amount. The admission process of Kristu Jayanti College is quite complicated. We have to pay an entry fee of ?800 and then we should write the application form submitting all the respective documents mentioned in the form. The eligibility rate is about 80% since the it is all merit-based. Out of 1000 applicants, only 500 get selected. There isn't any exam required to be accepted for our course since the admission is merit-based. My overall admission process was filled with tensions since Kristu Jayanti College was my last resort. The good thing was, that the admission process didn't take more than 2 weeks and we got the results the day after the online interview

Faculty

5

The faculty-student relationship is quite formal yet beneficial. We can approach them if we need help with anything regarding academics and even counseling. I like Mr. Deepak as he uses the right methods to teach us our subject. I also like Mrs Rituparna Ma'am as her teaching is also understandable. I didn't like Mrs. Anoja and Mrs. Saraswati as it is very difficult to understand their teaching as they don't use proper applications. There are four exams per academic year. There is a Mid-Term and Terminal Exam per semester. In this college, majority of the students clear the exam. The course curriculum is highly relevant.

At St Aloysius University, students typically become eligible for campus placements from the 5th semester onward. Reputed companies like Infosys, wipro, TCS etc have visited the campus offering multiple roles in IT services, research and analytics. The highest package has been around 7-8 LPA while the average has been around 3-4 LPA depending on the company and the profile of the student. Around 60-70% of eligible students secure placement each year

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate it around 8/10 for relevance and comprehensiveness. I chose this course because it offered solid foundational subjects that aligned with my interests. The curriculum prepares students well for higher studies and provides decent exposure to lab techniques. However, for real world readiness, it could be improved. Teaching methods are mostly theory-heavy and would benefit from interactive approaches. Exams are moderately difficult and conceptual clarity and regular revision helps in scoring well.

Students in their fifth and sixth semesters are eligible for the campus placement cell. Only 50 -60% of students get campus placement offers. I would get into post-grad courses like an MSc in physics.
