The registration process is quite straightforward and can be completed through online MAHE portal, WGSHA tried to accommodate first-year students on campus. The hostel fees vary based on room type from 60,000- 1,00,000/- depending on the fascilites and room sharing. I stay in Vidyaratna Nagar in an apartment as a 3rd year student.

Admission

Other than WGSHA, I had applied for Indian School of Hospitality (ISH) and got accepted. Although I got selected, I had since realised that I wished for a more culturally diverse college and Manipal as a college town is highly reputed for its student friendly atmosphere. The admission process requires a personal interview and general knowledge test.

Faculty

5

Faculty members are highly experienced in the industry and bring real-world knowledge to the classroom. Faculty members are approachable and willing to help students, they are deeply involved in practical sessions, ensuring students get hands-on experience and understand industry standards. Chef K. Thirugnanasambantham (Chef Thiru): He is highly appreciated for his culinary expertise and has deep knowledge about the subject. Each Semester has about 2-5 theory exams and 2-3 practical exams. They are easy and requires basic industry knowledge and are easy to clear if all provided materials and library are used.

Interview Experience

5

I had a general knowledge test and a personal interview conducted. I was asked basic questions about the current affairs and other personal questions. I applied for the interview through the online MAHE portal and waited for the call for interview via mail. Once I was selected, I had to confirm by paying my fees and other formalities.

Other Applied Colleges

Indian School of Hospitality - [ISH] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Culinary Arts)

I wasn’t comfortable with the location and Wanted a more diverse college campus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because of the dual degree that it has to offer, christ is one of the very few institutions that offer dual degree and allow you to explore both the subjects or gain combined knowledge of both the subjects. The curriculum is very up to date with subjects that relate to real world problems. What i like the most about my curriculum is the Learner centric approach where they divide the class into halves so that the teacher student ratio can be maintained in order to achieve full efficiency. One area of improvement can be inculcating more soft skills traininng into it.

The students are eligible to sit for placement in their final years. The companies which comes for the placement are deloitte, goldmanSachs, amazon and many more reputed companies. And they do make many offers. The highest package reports around 30 LPA and the average goes on around 3 to 4.5 LPA. Around 70-90 percent get placements. My plans is to pursue higher studies.

Placements are good. Students arw given chances to take exams and get job opportunities from there. Field trips and internships, orientations, talk shows are organized to prepare students further before stepping out for jobs. They can either take the placements they get or opt for higher studies, which is what i am doing as a degree in psychology alone does not grant a wide scope in the jobs spectrum.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements towards the final semester of their course. Currently, I have only been using the help of my faculty for internship opportunities, since I am not looking for placements. But they have connections with big names in the communication sector, and they often have personalities coming in to give talks and interact with the students. A great number of students opt for placements and approximately 90% of them do end up getting posted at really good companies. Others choose to continue with higher education. My plan after receiving my degree would be to take up a diploma in literature in the UK, while simultaneously finding myself a position at a good publishing house there.

Placement Experience:

From my seniors, I hear that 20/30 % of students from our college get placed. But now being in my final sem I know the reality. For covid and lockdown, the placement sector has been badly hit. Only a handful of companies came this year (5/6 companies). 4/5 people from our batch are placed but no placement for the big chunk of people. From 5th sem students become eligible for placements but in 5th sem, no company came to our college for placement this year. Only in the 6th sem, the placement cell started. Companies that visited till now ( some of them came to take interns and didn't offer full-time jobs) 1) Clevertize, 2) Social Panga, 3) Robert Bosch GmbH, 4) Saatchi & Saatchi, 5) Publicis, 6)PR Pundit, 7) McKinsey, 8) Edsol Edtech, 9) Momo Media, 10) MSL, 11) Genesis BC, Offers: 1.5-3 LPA (average). I plan to send CVs personally to companies through LINKEDIN and other job search platforms because the college hasn't provided us with good placement offers as claimed.
