Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

In 1 st year there was environmental studies, except that all the subjects we studied was relevant. Students get to choose their respective elective papers after the 1st semester. The curriculum involved various aspects which prepares the students for the real world. We had to prepare and present ppt, involve in social activities, field research for various subjects, etc. All in all, the curriculum was good and it also depends on the student by which subjects they choose. The exams are conducted in the month of may and in december. B.com involves 3 year course with 6 semesters. The exams are somewhat easy and students can easily score around 6 gpa even if they have studied very little.

Internships Opportunities

3

The internships were provided by various companies like tredily, microsoft, adobe, rbi, etc. The roles were generally of social media manager, content writer, content creator, market research, etc. The stipend was provided by a very few companies. The companies generally gave experience certificates to the students. The tasks provided depends your role, if you are social media manager, you will have to write content and post it on various social media sites and in some groups. Do polls, etc.

Placement Experience

4

The students become eligible for the placements after the 5th semester. There's a dedicated society for placements which enrolls all the student's name and do orientation program and mentor them. The companies which always come are EY, Delloite and they recruit candidates for the packages starting from 4,00,000 p.a to 17,00,000 p.a. other companies also come to recruit on higher packages but they are not mass recruiters. The hughest package during my batch was 32,00,000 for the position of financial analyst in american express and average package wnet to 6,00,000 that year. The students who are interested in getting placements mostly get placed. The students who are not placed, often get updates from the placement cell for new recruitments. After getting the degree people from this college goes to various fields as the college provides the with great exposure. They excel in vatious fields.

Fees and Financial Aid

For b.com the fee for each semester was 5000/- For b.com hons. It was 6000 for each semester For B.a it was 3500 to 4000 depending on plain b.a or hons. Sc and st category students get scholarship and have to pay less. Sc and st category students can also apply for scholarship and get about 20000 from college each year.

Campus Life

5

When students get admitted in the college, the first celebration they can expect is after the college elections, these are huge. Then comes the freshers party. There are always some kind of fest and celebration going on with small stalls, dance, singing, various competition. The grand fests take place after january and it's usually for 3 days where different celebrities are invited for their performance and the place is packed with students dancing and singing. Overall the vive is pretty good. The library in the college has good number of seating capacity and is centralized with ac. Books are always available and has a large variety. College provides laptop to each student, there is also a server room where students can get their technical grievances solved. Sports and extracurricular activities are encouraged here and most of the equipments are available. There are large variety of societies to choose from with respect to student's personal interest such as NCC, NSS, Enactus to LFT,

Admission

During 2016, the admissions were on the merit basis, i missed kirori mal college by .25 marks and the next best alternative was shaheed bhagat singh college for b.com, so i got admission here. Sbsc is somewhat better college of delhi university when compared to other south campus colleges. It has good infrastructure with separate basketball court and a very large playground, which other colleges of south campus lack. The courses provided here are adverse and all the faculty members are good and friendly. They always help the students regarding their course and in extra curricular activities also. The cut off for general and obc category students is still high but sc and st cut offs are a little on the lower side. If someone is thinking about getting admission in delhi university and wants south campus then Shaheed bhagat singh college is great.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty was good especially for accountancy and economics. Apporva and esha ma'am were always very polite and helpful. Faculties who were not that good were of environmental studies and insurance. In 1 sem there are 5 subjects and 5,5,6,6,6 thereafter. Markings are provided on the basis of theory exam and assignment as well. There's 5 marks for attendance too.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I will rate the daulat ram course 8/10. One of the main reasons i chose this course was that the syllabus felt balanced between theory and practical understanding..but the only drawback is that sometimes it felt a bit more theory based rather than practical exposure , the exam pattern is consistent mid-sem internals and end-sem finals twice a year. Internals are usually manageable, but end-semester exams depend a lot on the teacher marking style.

Course curriculum is as per Delhi University's official curriculum, so it's pretty good. But its very theoretical as well so if I would suggest an improvement it would be this to make the curriculum more real and practical life based rather than rote learning.

Students of 3rd year are eligible for the same. Mckinsey, BCG, Bain, Blackrock, Meesho etc being the most prestigious recruiters. Highest package varies, but it went around 36 L last year. Avg being around 8 L. I would say most students who apply for placements get placed, however only a few get placed in the top companies. I personally wish to pursue an MBA.
