Likes

I liked the faculty expertise in the college. They are very helpfull and understanding as well. They also are well qualified and teaches well.
I like the campus of the college. It abids some guidelines and promotes cleanliness in the premises and a required discipline is also maintained.
I like the cafeteria of the college campus as well but it's a little expensive as well.

Dislikes

The extra expenses taken in the cafeteria.
The working schedule is sometimes slow due to which we suffer some consequences.
Developmental status is not upto the mark .

I chose this course as I loved the subject and was curious enough to interpret in the same as well. This course is a vast area considering different courses as well and provides a good outlook of human behaviour as well as the society.

Class Size: 20Course Fees: INR 10000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Yearly fees extends upto 10000 course but it varies severely in every field. Like it's more for computer science and less for arts subjects. Payment has to be done twice a year which includes lab fees, development fees, tuition fees, and others as well. There are various compensation on castes as well as minor students. Scholarships are also provided to the required students from the college itself.

Campus Life

My overall experience is really nice in this campus. Many fests and social programs like curricular activities has taken place every year indulging students in not only studies but also co curricular activities.

Admission

I chose this college due to its excellent reviews in this website as well and also due to its maintainance. The campus is well neat and maintained nicely by the authorities and also the faculties provide the vast knowledge and optimum education in every field as well.

Faculty

There are five faculties in our department which makes the ratio 4:1 for us. The faculties are very qualified and well trained and also teaches us well. They guide us in various ways and also teaches and takes classes regularly. Exams are taken as per semester and practical classes are conducted well.

Placement Experience:

College does provide internship opportunities both through the placement cell as well as department faculty. Semester 5 and Semester 7 students are eligible for placements. Average package is about 5.5 lakh per annum for microbiology course. Although placement percentage is on the lower side majority of students go for higher studies. Many prepare for exams like GATE, IIT JAM, etc.

Placement Experience:

college placements are good in this college with a number of good financial and consultancy firms coming in with new gen companies as well in the service and sales industry. moreoever getting a good placement in a top financial or consultancy placement requires a POR in a good society as a criteria, its not really required but adds to your chances of getting it. moreover you require to participate in a number of case study competitions for the same as well. my plans after graduation is probably working for a year or two after which i plan on doing my MBA. around 50-60% who apply get a placement.

My experience at St. Xavier's

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course theory helps us gain a solid understanding of the subject matter. Film studies and Mass Communication theory classes has laid down the foundation of the subject- from what is a shot and the kinds of shots and angles, to the beginning of radio in India and essays by CS Pierce and John Berger. The course also includes practical classes in the sound labs, editing labs and we will learn to use a camera, as one of the things we will have to do in this course is make films of our own.

Placement Experience:

Our college has a very active placement cell that fetches jobs for everyone who needs and deserve it. The highest package was 24 lacs per annum last year and it is only expected to go up this round almost all students to set for placements are placed but in my department specifically most opt for higher studies like myself.

We have a placement cell helping students get placed. They keep posting opportunities like internships and fellowships throughout the year to groom students and give them exposure and experience. I applied to Surendranath Women's college, Vidyasagar College, Gokhale Memorial and Acharya Prafulla Chandra College. Amongst that I chose this college because of the NAAC A grade rating and along with the factory that the college is very near to my place. I got accepted into the other colleges but this seemed like an easier approach to me , because along with my course, which is very time consuming I'd rather have a college near my place.
