Detailed analysis of CEPT university from the perspective of a first year student

It is a 5 year course with a dedicated foundation year which was a driving factor in chosing this course. The curriculum requires us to actually go in the city and explore different types of manufacturers and makers which taught us a lot about how the real world works. The only improvement i would suggest is having more group activities. There are 2 major submissions in midsem and endsem and they aren't difficult at all if you have completed all your work.

The fees for all undergraduate courses is 4 lakh per annum which does not include any hostel charges. There is a merit based scholarship which is offered to students who had the best ranks from different competitive examinations. The merit based scholarship ranges from 30%-90%. There is a need based scholarship for students whose family earns less than 15lpa who are offered a 50% scholarship. During the course the lab fees is a minimal 600rs per semester for the lab to buy materials. There is no reservation/ scholarship based on caste as this is a private college

There are 5 departments in CEPT which are Design, Planning, Architecture, Technology and Management each department has its own yearly event along with a common event called piped dreams which is a campus wide fest. There is another campus wide fest which is organised by the first year students called Mazi. The library on campus has all books you would need to research in uour particular fields. There is a basketball football and volleyball area on canpus. The campus has a music club, drama club, film club, sports club and a student council as well.

I applied to ISDI, UID and BITS Design I was accepted into all of them but the main factor to chose CEPT was it is a 62 year old college with an established name in the industry and a well connected network of alumni all the other colleges did not have this, another thing was the rest were too expensive. The admission process for my college is very simple for design they accept the UCEED rank, for architecture and planning they accept NATA scores and for civil engineering they accept JEE Main ranks the process is completely merit based. And the common minimum eligibility is 40% aggregate percentage in 12th grade examination. The admission process is very streamlined and hassle free

The faculty to student ratio is 1:17 each class has approximately 50 people (in the first year) with 3 professors and 3 teaching assistants assigned to each class. All the faculty members give personal attention to each and every student. I wouldn't reveal names but i love all the professors all of them are cery approachable and never hesitate to solve any doubts. We dont have exams as such rather submissions of specific assignments on which we are graded and recieve credits there is a jury week in the mid-sem and end-sem where 2 major submissions happen and we recieve grades. The course is extremely detailed with no stone unturned and completely relevant to the degree
