Course Curriculum Overview
Had few of my friends who were CEPT alumni asked me to look into their websites to explore possible options. I have read through the contents of the CEPT official website and student portfolios for my interest in the subject. The transport faculties have already done tremendous work in the sector and are still in the process. Once I joined I was extremely happy in terms of their teaching techniques and also empathy toward their students. The studios were well organized and I received good help from every faculty. The guest lectures organized to keep the students updated related to the industry and also the evaluation of studio work from the esteemed professionals of the field was very helpful.
Internships Opportunities
Center of Excellence in Urban Transport, CRDF, CEPT University is where I interned and received a stipend of 12,000. I worked on a research project related to active mobility under Prof. Shivanand Swamy who is among the renowned person in the transport domain.
Placement Experience
Before the placements after the completion of the second semester, students can also do their optional internship. But over the years the students have found these internships very beneficial and the committees help the students to get through the placements as much as possible. Once the students have completed their third semester the placement procedure begins. The placement is well coordinated by the placement committee where reputed firms be a part of this process. During my batch, 95% of the transport students got placed. The ones who did not get placed were by choice as they had their commitments. The highest package offered was around 8 lakh per annum.
Fees and Financial Aid
With regards to the fees I found CEPT a little expensive, the fees are per semester which is quite high to afford. Although there were student assistantships they could only get a little expense. I could not avail of the scholarship either so cannot give details on that.
Campus Life
Campus life in CEPT is good. The students along with studying multiple activities are happening parallelly. There is a lot of interaction with students from other disciplines as well. @muts_cept can be followed to be updated with student activities and juries happening in transport.@fpcept to be updated about planning background and activities undertaken. The CEPT library is amazing. It has multiple options for students wherein students can sit and explore or take away the books. The library also has a study area for students where they can work individually or in groups.
Admission
The course is only eligible for planners, architects, and civil engineers. I found out about it through the CEPT website and got the required details by connecting to CEPT admission. The first shortlisting was done based on the experience + marks achieved in (10+12) and graduate + SOP submitted + exam. The shortlisted students were then called for interview and writing and final shortlisting was done. There was a sufficient buffer and time in the process to think and decide on the course. The student can opt for 2 courses as well. But I wanted to join only transport.
