What Students Say
Likes
- The college is very close to the metro station so one cam commute easily by foot, which can surely help to same money. But Yes, the riksha facilities are also there for them who do not want to Walk.
- College is located in a Residential Area so it's actually feel very safe there. People are always working out in a nearby park in the mornings, in afternoons you can see the office people taking a break, etc.
- Canteen's food is very affordable and quite tasty as well. There are so many options to choose, from pizzas and sandwiches to Rajma Chawal, Ghar ki thali, etc.
Dislikes
- Some of the Classrooms are actually not maintained well, the paint is coming off. Some times the fans are also not working, the charging plugs do not work.
- The auditorium though very huge, has really poor management. It's open from the backside so it's not really nice when really hot winds blow in the summers. Lightings are not also THAT great.
- It's does have a cyber centre but we are not allowed there all the time, you can't go without a teacher sometimes or when you not have any class there. Also some computers don't work.
Course Curriculum Overview
I really had a great time doing Hons. in History. It was Realllyyyy good Course. I learnt so much. We got to visit the National Museum for some research purpose. We were taken to Rakhigarhi as well, as a Part of course (Field Visit). Along with studying Indian History in detail, we Got to study World History as well, of USA, China, Japan, Korea, Europe, etc. We were taught Historiography which we never learnt in school. In short we got to Study THE REAL HISTORY. It was all fun, as I expected it to be. BUT, Yes, more Visits can be included in the curriculum as one understands History or Architecture well by Looking things in Reality.
Fees and Financial Aid
Different courses have different fees. The fees for my course was almost 10k per year. Apart from this, you also had to pay examination fees in every semester, which depends on how many papers you have to give in a particular semester. There was also an option for few refund for Students belonging to Economically weaker section.
Campus Life
Campus Life was really fun. There was always something going on in the college, Annual fests of any particular department, annual festival of the College itself, diwali mela, Christmas carnival, Awareness campaigns, etc. The Library was Realllyyyy Huge, it has all types of books, even Fictions, and of really good Quality I must say. Although the Projector was not present in each and every Class but it was there, for example in Geography Lab. Sports day is also celebrated in the college, in which teachers also take Part. And it is organised on a very good level. If we talk about student run social groups, THERE ARE MANY, like Dance societies, Debate society, Antakshari Club, NSS thing, etc. Students were really interested in all of this and enjoyed taking part in them. There was also a society for Wall painting I guess, and they made really good paintings in the College Campus.
Admission
There were several Reasons to choose Kalindi: It's an all girls college so it felt comparatively more Safer than the Co-ed ones. Also, this might be an unpopular opinion but the Boys were not there to make mischiefs so there was a good built-in environment for Study. Girls were there to manage each and everything. Either it was NCC, NSS, Sports, Societies or even Student Union, girls were incharge of literally everything and it used to feel very proud and wholesome. The admission process back in 2021 was merit based so I just saw the cut-off and applied for admission, and Kalindi was my first choice so I honestly didn't even tried for any other College.
Faculty
Faculty to student Ratio is fine. I got different Teachers for every Paper. And the were quite good, I'll not say they were the best teachers, but they were good. Apart from helping with studies the taught life as well. Exams were held semester wise. So in Three years, I gave exams 6 times cause there were two semesters in a year. And the level was good. It felt as if you're giving exams in "Delhi University". The invigilators were also good, they were strict, the decorum of the class during exam was maintained pretty well. Yes but I must quote it here that the Checking system do have some problems. It happened with so many of us, that when are exams went really well we scored less and when exam was not that good, the marks were more than expected. But yes, that's not a fault of college as they say answer sheets are not checked by the faculty members.
