Remarks

There is as such no negative feedback. The faculty members of the departments are very helpful, the classrooms are big and airy, the washrooms are neat and clean all the time, the total college premise is under CCTV surveillance. Current principal sir is also very helpful and strict. But if only one thing that needs to improve a bit is the administrative section. Although that is also getting better day by day. They have also opened a Facebook page to help us with important notices and other things

Entrance Exam, Merit List

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course follows the Standard curriculum of The University of Calcutta. And from 2017 they have also opted for CBCS system. The honors curriculum is great it teaches u to the depth of any subject but prior to CBCS the curriculum was a bit biased to the theory portion

Internships Opportunities

There are some stipends for geography a zoology courses but I being a student of Biochemistry department never got any stipend. But financially backward and meritorious students can always apply for Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means scholarships. And they can also apply to the students union and to the principal for the fee waiver. They are pretty helpful.

Placement Experience

2

Being a general college there is no structure for placement. Though in 2017 some companies like Throcare visited the biochemistry and chemistry department for hire. And generally, the Honours students opt for Masters degrees

College Events

3.5

Republic Day, Independence Day, Netaji Jayanti, Saraswati Puja, Teachers Day, Nabin Baran, Annual Cultural Fest, Annual Sports Day, Annual Picnic organized by the students union, Seminars are among many events celebrated in our college

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is not at all expensive. In fact, it is among the cheapest. The fees structure is lesser than any other College offering the same subject under the University of Calcutta. And if one is financially backward they can apply for a waiver of tuition fees to the principal

Fees and Financial Aid

There are few stipends for students of some departments and also there is the Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship given by the Government of West Bengal which can be helpful for financially backward students. Also, the course fees are pretty cheap to start with

Campus Life

4.5

The labs are well equipped and large enough to provide you a good learning experience. The laboratory attendants are also pretty helpful. There are annual sports competitions and there are also indoor games like carrom and table tennis in the common room. There is also a group which anyone can join who is into poetry, play, etc stuff

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Unfortunately, there is no hostel facility provided by the college as all the students are from Kolkata and its vicinity. But there are many local cheap PG accommodations on offer for the students coming from distant locations

Alumni/Alumna

There is not a very strong alumni network but the senior stu6are pretty helpful in every aspect. They will provide you with valuable suggestions books notes and will also help you in studying certain subjects. Some of my seniors are have become my friends and they are still in touch with me

Exam Structure

Before the CBCS system, there were 3 main exams every year. Which were the gateway for advancing to the next academic year or for getting the degree. There were the regular departmental test and also there was a Midterm examination and one examination prior to the university examination

Admission

After I got my class 12 results I filled the admission form given from the college office and then submitted it. After that, there was a shortlisting of candidates and there was manual counseling. From that, I was selected and I was enrolled for the course. Although some subjects like geography zoology have an entrance test due to lots of numb9od applications

Faculty

5

The faculty of the biochemistry department is hands down one of the best. The teachers special MPM madam treat you like their child. And help you in every aspect of your course be it theory or practical. The zoology, botany, microbiology, physics, chemistry, and geography have great teachers. Above all the Life sciences departments are among the best

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

My plans are to appear for the job interviews but not taking any as I want to study more.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum was well-structured, and each semester, there were projects and presentations that also helped to test our knowledge. I got influenced as the curriculum provides us with financial economics, political economics, and Applied mathematics. The level of the exams was decent, related to the course. They could improve in teaching more practical knowledge and projects related to that, instead of only learning in a theoretical way.

Placement Experience:

Placements and job oppurtinities are less since this is an undergraduate college offwering honours degree. Though there is a placement and career councelling cell that looks over this matter. Placements are offered only in a few subjects, such as industrial chemisrty and computer science. The rate of placements are very high and come with high packages. Though I am not interested in placements, but I have started taking preparations for compititive exams. Such preparations are very supported here, rather than jobs and placements.
