Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

My course is geography honours and it is interesting but those students who never study geography will find it tough and boating but if they read the ncert of 11and 12 th they will able to understand it and it is not completely theory it cover everything like it has theory it has science and scientific reasons and practical part contain some sort of mathematical calculations Cartography is also a part of geography which include map making , remote sensing, GIS and GPS and I thik it is relevant because we frequently need all these tools

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The placement cell of our college is very active they will inform you about internship opportunities via what's app group or insta But I don't have much knowledge but you will get opportunities and it's depends on your abilities

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees of Miranda house for BA (hone) in geography is 17980 and apart from it there is no fees that you have to give but once you get admission and spent around 10-15 days thenyou have to give 300-500 rupees to department for its functions like every department at Miranda organise there events so being a part of it you have to give this amount for the proper functioning of your department and there are a lots of pan College events where you have to pay to participate and to get certificate of that particular event it is completely depend on students if they want they can otherwise there no need in pan College events

Campus Life

4.5

College life at Miranda is quite hectic like you just have completed your school and you packed in such a hectic schedule so it may be challenging because we have classy from 8:30am to 5:00 pm so it becomes a little bit hard but as you spend the months you become habitual of it and you can get break between classes even when you have long lectures and if you ask your professor to have a break of 10 min they will give so it is manageable but in starting it is difficult The society cultural of Miranda is also good like we have many societies including Indian and western dance, singing , music , drama and society related to environment entrepreneurship filmmaking photography and happiness club and many more My experience of societies is very good you will meet new people and get new perspectives and enjoy

Admission

First reason in the campus like it is very beautiful and canteen is also good and affordable as compared to other college Second reason is it is very safe for girls the people are so friendly and you can communicate even to a strange easily Third reason is the faculty all the teacher is ready to give you knowledge just you have that hunger to grab all the things Infrastructure is a little bit has limitations but the infra we have to good and well maintained like we have auditorium and mini auditorium both even new block of our college has lift No other Coll students are allowed during our test which make it even more safer during the test time

Faculty

4

Faculty of Miranda is too good like they are responsible from their ends and they can share the referral and book material with you. They are approachable and kind untill now to those professors I have met they are very sensible and will read to listen you they are not frustrated

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

I wanted to do PhD in Political Science but due to percentage I took up BA program. Teachers used to provide notes but mostly I used to be off. There was nothing wrong with the college. Exam timings were good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
