What Students Say?
Likes
- First of all , my department’s faculty was very good. The teachers were very cooperative and explained things very nicely.
- The atmosphere of my college was good, there was discipline and students behaved properly.
Dislikes
- The thing I disliked was that there was no placement cell and no campus hiring.
Course Curriculum Overview
We followed the CBCS course of the University of Calcutta. We had 6 semesters, 2 semesters per year. I had a vast variety of subjects to study. The only con was that the course was filled with theories and it did not give a real world knowledge or skill enhancement.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The per annum or yearly college fees for my course- BSc in economics was for around 25000-30000. Many people had opted for government sponsored scholarships such as SVMCM,Kanyashree, Aikyashree etc. students who opted for hostels received a higher amount of scholarship.
Campus Life
To be honest we did not have much of a campus life as my campus was not that huge. However my college took initiatives to let us participate in workshops, social events, sports, fests , debates. We even organised our own fear for our department. The library is good. Whatever books we wanted were available.
Admission
The admission process was basically of filling the form and the merit list came out on the basis of my class 12 marks. The cutoff was around 80% in class 12. I got admission in other colleges too but I opted for this one as it was very close to my house.
Faculty
In my department there were around almost 40-42 students and 6 teachers. I had maths and statistics as my two general subjects. The teachers were great. The course is prepared by the University of Calcutta and we followed the cbcs system. The course was very nice and informative. Me and my friends scored well and there were very less to no failures in the semester exams.
