- Campus is big and has very good connectivity through roads.
- Faculties are highly experienced and the slides and tutorials they provide are also very effective in the learning process.
- Infrastructure is top class, which is only evident when you reach here and see it yourself.
Dislikes
- The campus is big, so we have to travel daily 2km to get to classroom.
- Department Change is closed from the year 2024-25.
- Nothing much to dislike about IIT Kharagpur.
Course Curriculum Overview
The world ranking of IIT Kharagpur is 3 among IITs. The curriculum is according to the new National Education Policy. It also gives you the opportunity to pursue double major and even Interdisciplinary Dual Degree Coursesm
Internships Opportunities
Many companies come in all branches. Eg. Google, Amazon etc.The highest internship offered was 32 lac per month to 3 students in on campus internship. 2 other students got the same offer in off campus trials.
Placement Experience
This is the first time the course of Artificial Intelligence has been introduced in IIT Kharagpur. I expect that placements would be good with median about 32 lakh and average about 40 lakhs after 4 year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees is about 3k per year including hostel fees and all. The course of AI is new, but better than the IITs that had the course earlier. The batch size is also small i.e. 50. So, teachers are able to give their attention to all the students. The top performers get scholarship in the next year based on previous year CGPA. There is also financial support for economically weaker section ( having income between 1 lakh to 5 lakh ), in which only two-third of the tution fees ( approx 66,667 rs ) is relaxed dor them.
Campus Life
IIT Kharagpur has many societies ( more than 50 ), which have different things to do. Some are cultural, coding, chess, quant, travel, racing car, SpringFest, and Business. They have links to their respective organizers, who organize and sponsor their events.
Hostel Facilities
Chair, Table, Bed, Cupboard, Hangar, etc. are provided in the room by staff Meal is unlimited, with Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Snacks and Dinner. Lunch and dinner include Roti, Sabji, Dal, Chawal, Sambhar and sometimes a sweet. Breakfast has two options, one being Bread butter jam , and other changes daily like dosa, upma, poha etc. Evening Snacks also changes daily and include samosa, noodles, veg roll, Pani puri, tea.
Admission
In my rank I was getting IIT Roorkee Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, IIT Kanpur Mathematics and Scientific Computing B.S. course. My maths was weak, so I didn't take IIT Kanpur. IIT Kharagpur ranking was better than IIT Roorkee, so I chose it.
Faculty
There are Mid Semester exams, End Semester exams and class tests. End sem takes place in April and November, while Mid Sem takes place in Sept and Feb/March. One class test is taken before midsem, and other after midsem.
