Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose psychology in order to become a clinical psychologist and explore into this field and in research areas. Psychology curriculum is very much good in this college as it is having Practical aspects also which train us to apply our knowledge into real world scenarios. I would suggest that if smart boards were used for visual teaching although most of the faculties are doing a really great job but still could be better. Also it would be great if they can introduce internship programs The timings for the exams are very much appreciate as it happens after every 5 to 6 months and the difficulty level, I could say depends on your preparation, if you came prepared then it will be very easy but if you didn't read a single word it will be very difficult.

Fees and Financial Aid

My category ( General) The year wise fees I paid was 13455 total as for my course BA psychology. Examination fee was around 1600 As for course, Psychology laboratory fees was Rs 300 Rest of the fees ( N/A) For SC , ST and OBC it was the same as mine. But for PWD it was exempt. There are many scholarships available for the reserved category and few are for girl child and only little bit are there that is for all.

Campus Life

4

As in this college there are many North Eastern Students, they have a separate northeast cell and there are many events and functions related to them such as bihu event and many others G- 20 function was also happened There is an upcoming suicide prevention day event on 9th of September which is going to happen. There are many more such as fests , annual day , freshers etc. These events depends on the month of the festival or the scenarios such as freshers will happen as there is new 1st year students who have come to the college. There are many books in the library and journals in the library, I could say that our library is one of the best library in Off campus of Delhi University. There are not much technological provision within the classroom but in the terms of teaching all of them teach really well. I am not much involved in sports activities so I don't know much There are many amazing societies such as srijan, rudra , swarigini , red ribbon club, eco club etc.

Admission

I applied for Ramanujan college ( DU) Aryabhatta college ( DU) Keshav Mahavidyalaya. ( DU) I didn't get my admission confirmed from any Colleges I applied for except for Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College as My score was not that good and there are only few options for boys for opting psychology in delhi university also there was high competition in the above given colleges. The admission procedure was really simple, I had to give the CUET ( COMMON UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE TEST) in order to get admission into Delhi University. The exams to opt for Bachelors in psychology are CUET TISS AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE TEST JMI ENTRANCE TEST AMITY SGT AND MANY MORE The cutoff for these colleges vary every year , for government Universities I would say that that the competition is increasing every year so I would suggest you to work really hard. For private universities, it depends on the number of students who applied for the exam.

Faculty

5

In my department, i.e, Psychology, the faculties are very friendly and very much interactive with us. Some assistant professors and guest faculty are one of the best whom I was taught from. Because they are very sweet and friendly in nature. There aren't any faculties which I don't like. There are semester exams after end of every semester after 5 to 6 months ( it varies sometimes). There are very less number of students who fails to clear the exam. The course curriculum is although nice but it can get better by introducing practical training and exposure for students.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
