Souradipta Sen's Review On St. Thomas College Of Engineering And Technology - [STCET], Kolkata

STCET is one of the best colleges in Eastern India in terms of academics/discipline and hosts one of the best campuses in Kolkata.

AIEEE examination, Rank: 1116. This college is one of the bests in Kolkata with a wonderful campus recruitment process and a high rate of successful recruitment. Also, this college is known for its discipline over anything else.

The entire course curriculum was of four years. The first year mainly focusing on the basics and largely same subjects across all the departments. The subsequent years focussed more on the domain wise subjects with enough hands-on and practical sessions. Regular Tests, practival, theoretical and Viva, were also scheduled.

There had not been any internship offer during my academic days. However for campus recruitments, a number of companies visited our campus. The first slots were taken by Cognizant and Infosys followed by ITC in the second slot. We also had Tech Mahindra, Globsyn and other companies following the trail.

Placement and Job opportunities are excellent. Our college offers 95% job guarantee in atleast one of the visiting companies for campus recruitments. A few companies are Cognizant Technology Solutions, Infosys, ITC.

I have not availed any loan or scholarship facility. However scholarships are provided to students ranking within the first ten in entire WBUT.

There is no hostel facility for St. Thomas.Food available in the canteen is quite good with enough attention provided to the basic hygiene and cleanliness.

Exams and Labs were very frequent. St Thomas maintains a strict schedule in order to ensure that students are prepared well enough for the campus recruitments and exams.

There has not been any complaint or concern with the faculty of the college. Led by our Registrar and our Principal, each department had department heads. The faculty members were experienced enough to ensure a completepractical and theoretical knowledge
