Dislikes
- One of the biggest drawbacks, of being a student at Amity, is its strictness with attendance. Once you fall short of 75% attendance, no matter what, you won’t be allowed to sit for end semester exams.
- If you hate paperwork, Amity isn’t the one for you. Once you take admission, you have to go through a lot of paperwork throughout your first semester.
- Since Amity University, Kolkata is located in the outskirts of the city, you have to struggle with foods specially if you are a non-vegetarian. The campus has two canteens which strictly serve vegetarian foods.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure is very well defined, especially if you want to go for higher studies. Exams are categorised in two different ways. Internal exams and Externals exams. Internal exams carries 30/40 marks where as external exams carries 70/60 marks. You can be asked for assignments and class tests for your internal exams and external exams are mainly written exams. You can expect your internal exams within one month after you semester begins. Typically your semester continues for 5 months and then after one week of study leave you can expect your external exams.
Internships Opportunities
Since I am a student of Arts and I come from an English background, I didn't have the opportunity to enroll myself in an internship. Although in my final year I was given a dissertation to write, for which I had to travel and enroll myself into different seminars of different Universities.
Placement Experience
Typically students in their final year, i.e., 5th and 7th semester sit for campusing. Renowned companies like TATA, AUDI, CADBURY, etc, recruit their employees from here. I remember a student from CSE secured a package of 36LPA. I didn't sit for campusing because I wanted to go for higher education.

Admission
I personally didn't apply for any other Colleges or Universities. Knowing the fact that the classes will be conducted in an online mood, since there was an outbreak during 2020, I opted for the best University in the town. The admission process is very smooth but as mentioned earlier the aftermath is tiresome, you have to go through a lot of paperwork. The minimum eligibility criteria for any course is 60 percent.
Faculty
Throughout your course at Amity, each semester you will be allocated a different mentor. Your mentor tries to help you in whatever ways possible while staying within the guidelines. For example for me, my mentor Prof. Dr. Madhurima Mukhopadhyay helped me prepare for my entrance exams like CUET(PG), Aliah University entrance exam, Jadavpur University entrance exam, etc. Thankfully with God's grace and Madhurima Ma'am's suggestions, I cracked all of them. The maximum class strength you can expect is 60. Amity allows you freedom to rate and write a feedback for your faculty with full honesty because the feedback form comes with an anonymity. You can expect a duration of 5 months for each semesters. After every even semester you will get a long holiday of 2 months. If you follow your classes regularly you can easily get 60 percent.
