Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is majorly design centric as each semester till 3rd year there is a design realted course for each branch. Namely system thinking for design, smart product design etc. Coming to branch wise courses, the courses are at par with most of the other technical universities of the world. Hence, students planning for higher education abroad won't face much of a problem. The research environment of the institute is also great. The university exams are not that tough, scoring a good grade is possible by studying just one week before exams is surely possible. Just follow up the class lectures and scoring more than 9 cgpa is easy.
Placement Experience
The placement of the institute is at par with other technical institutions of the country. Major companies like BMW, Accenture, Microsoft have visited the campus in previous years. However, due to recession the placement of 24 passing out batch was a bit low with around 55% students placed. The highest package being 36LPA and average at around 7-8 LPA. The students become elegibile for campus internships from 5th semester and for placements from 7th semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition Fees - 60000 Hostel and Mess fees - 35000 Total fees per semester - 95000 The tuition fees increases for each new academic year for the newely admitted students. The sports and development fee is variable depending on the sport you choose. Particularly 500 per sport.
Campus Life
There are three major festivals of the institute. Meraki - intracolllege cultural fest Samgatha- official cultural fest Vashisht - official technical fest The library has most of the course realted books easily available for issue as well reading in library with all the AC facilities. Many journals are also available in the library for reading. The sports facilities are the best in this institute. With all major grounds for football, cricket, basketball court, volleyball court, badminton courts, table tennis and others.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels of the institute are newly built 14 floor buildings with 3 lifts for students use in each hostel. Three hostels namely ashwatha, Ashoka and jasmine are there. Ashwatha and Ashoka for boys and jasmine for girls. Each room is equipped with cupboard , study tables and chairs for each student, with fans and proper lights. The rooms are in good condition. The mess is a bit of a problem with most of the meals comprising of South Indian cuisines.
Admission
The college take admissions based on JEE Mains rank, through Josaa counselling, Csab counseling and DASA aswell. Cutoffs vary depending upon your category and the counselling you apply through. I applied for this institute as it has good ranking amongst the others and mechanical faculties of this institute are also great. I had an option to pursue BS-MS degree from IIISER Bhopal but I chose this institute over that.
Faculty
The faculty is really good with each faculty a PhD from either a IIT or NIT. Have good knowledge of the subjects. Faculty to students ratio is also good. Each department has around 20-30 faculties. Which is quite good since the number of students is less. You can take minimum 29 credits each semester comprising of core courses electives and other practical courses. For a BTech student you can take maximum of 9 credits through nptel as well. Which can be transferred to the institute credits. There are mid sems and end sems of each courses and some other assignments or projects finalised by the respective faculty.
