Course Curriculum Overview

2

I chose this course because it was in demand during the time I joined engineering. The curriculum and real life don't have any touch. Now my college is autonomous and they have improved a well-structured curriculum for our juniors, That's one good thing. But our university-provided curriculum is not that great. they say the language of teaching is English but only a few teachers are good at speaking English here. There are almost exams every month.i.e, we have 3 internal exams a semester.

Placement Experience

2.5

Students are eligible for placements from S7 onwards. The placement statistics say around 60 -70% of students are placed but that doesn't mean all are happy with what they got. Most of them have packages ranging from 1.5 to 5 Lakhs per annum which is not that great. But the placement Coordinator is really helpful. The placements also depend on the skills of the students. The college is trying its best to bring new opportunities. It lies in the hands of the students whether they pass or not. Many also choose for higher studies and also go for off-campus placement opportunities.

Fees and Financial Aid

I belong to the general category but studying in the merit seat. My overall fee is around 95000 per year. I get a scholarship of 5000 per year due to my Keam rank. Most of my friends from reserved categories don't have to pay any fees as the government funds them. The merit cum scholarship by the Central government provides up to 30000 rupees per year but there are rumors that the scholarship is not available anymore.

Campus Life

2.5

They do conduct arts fest, sports meet, and tech fest. We have a good library with a lot of books for reference. Smart TV is present in every class. Well-ventilated classes and hostels. Good lab(Might create some trouble with crashed systems). Overall the facilities are good. Extracurricular activities are an unknown name in the college. You rarely hear about them. We have Gym for both girls and boys. A vast playground, Basket ball court etc..

Hostel Facilities

3

At first, I stayed in Holy Cross Nivas. The food was terrible but changed over the course. The hostel was so down to heart with neat and clean surroundings. Later during 3rd year, we moved to Alphonsa Hostel which is inside the campus. The facilities are good, we have a gym. We are supposed to re-enter the hostel by 6:00 pm everyday. Wifi is available. Prayer room and study rooms are there. Each student is provided with individual shelf, table and chair.Around 4 people stay ion a room.

Admission

I was supposed to join MBBS, but due to some personal and financial issues I had to change my plans and had to join this college. My parents were worried about my condition so they didn't choose any Govt college, rather thought about going to a nearby college so I would be able to come home whenever I missed them. My parents think skills matter and college doesn't matter. Wherever you are studying if you can learn by yourself that matters the most.

Faculty

2.5

My class has around 62 students and 2 tutors as homeroom teachers. My tutors are quite helpful. Many faculties are very good-natured and hope the best for their students and also some rotten-natured teachers just don't care about anything else rather than themselves. There are 3 internal exams in a semester. they also provide the question bank in advance, Almost all the students mug up the questions before exams. Only a few generally prepare for the exam rather than depending on the question banks as the criteria for how the questions might come is already known. They are some good teachers even though they don't teach us, they still keep in touch and inform us regarding new opportunities as well. But that just constitutes only 10% of the total teachers here.

As seniors said the average package is around 10lpa.If you have descent skills and above 8 cgpa you will get this average package. If you upskill yourself with effort which many students do here then you can also get above 15lpa which many seniors got.The highest package was off-campus by an ECE Student in Google despite having cgpa around 6.He had very good skills as a full stack developer.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are quite good, but not great. Because only 50% of students in a class are getting placed. From S7 onwards the placements have been started for our department. But for other departments, from S8 only companies have arrived. For CSE department, many companies are coming which include Cognizant, SOTI, Mitsogo, EY, 6D Technologies, etc. Our senior batch students have placed at many companies in this. But comparing with other senior batches, the placements at our batch is really bad.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.
