Course Curriculum Overview
I am a Electronics and Communication Engineering undegrad so my interest in topics like electronic circuit designing, microprocessors, digital communication, etc influenced me to choose this course. The course curriculum needs to be upgraded according to the advancement in technology.
Internships Opportunities
Students apply for internships themselves and the Training and Placement Cell helps us grab the preferred internship according to our ranks. For interships with stipend, in general the duration of internship needs to be more than a month. Since our attendance is not considered, most of us don't go for internships which has a period of more than a month.
Placement Experience
From 7th semester onwards we can apply for campus placements and over 50+ companies visit for campus reqruitment. The highest package about 18 LPA - 20 LPA and an average package of 7 LPA and more than 50% of students get placements
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly we pay around Rs. 19000- Rs. 21000 which includes the admission fees, tution fees, regestration fees and examination fees. The examination fees is around Rs. 1500 for each semester and yearly we need to pay for Institutional + Government fees of Rs. 16000. There are numerous scolarship opportunities and the best of all is the Ishan Uday scholarship, but there are very scholarships available for droppers.
Campus Life
The annual cultural festival of Assam Engineering College is Pyrokinesis and technical fests are Tech Utsav and Tech Axom. We also have the library facility which has more than 60K books in its inventory including technical and non-technical books. We have smart boards and projectors in every classroom. There are more than 20 clubs to join after joining our college where we can excel and improve our social skills.
Hostel Facilities
There are 8 hostels for boys and 1 for girls with spacious rooms, daily meals, wifi, gym etc. I stay in a PG and there are a lot of PG and rent for the students and they are expensive relative to hostels.
Admission
Assam Engineering College is the first engineering college in our state and there are alumni who are now working all over the globe. This inspired me to opt for this college and pursue my interest in technology. For getting the admission in this college, a Common Entrace Examination (CEE) is held and students apply from every corner of Assam. We can apply for our preferred college and branch at the time of counselling.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ration is 5:1 for our class and there is a healthy relationship between a student and a teacher. In each semester there is a credit score of around 22 for each semester, and the papers are of moderate level.
Interview Experience
We took a Common Entrance Examination (CEE) for applying to this college. There was no GD during admissions, we were allowed to take admissions based on our prefernces and CEE rank. We only need to go for document verfication once after qualifying in CEE which is held every year.
