What Students Say
Likes
- The campus is beautiful and clean. The lushy green aesthetics is quite scenic. Security is considered priority and infrastructure is quite amazing
- The cultural life in the college is very rich. Centre of Perfo.rming Arts department(CPA) consists of 19 clubs and organise ls two annual fests.
- Labs are well equipped. There's a seperate Placement department and a cell in each branch.
Dislikes
- Sports enthusiasm is below par. There's no proper space for indoor sports and you have to practice on your own at some other clubs.
- Professors are rude, they will trouble you if you don't get along. Parking facilities gets very congested during working days.
- Classroom benches are not comfortable especially in EEE department, there's no washroom inside the department building as well.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is organised and well planned. The time allotted for the completion of courses is less that's why you would find yourself burdened with tasks and assignments. Writing lab records and observation books will occupy a lot of time of your days in college. Internals are conducted at the end of each month, total of three theory and one lab internal is conducted during one semester. Quizzes and assignments are conducted mostly after second internals.
Placement Experience
The engineers with good skills were placed right out of college with an average package of 10 lakhs. I plan to sit for Placements and try to fetch one. Many opt for higher education such as MBA and MTech. Many IT companies come for placements, also core companies do but only a few.
Fees and Financial Aid
During the time of admission I had to pay around 91k to KEA and while reporting at the college after second extended round of KCET counseling the college collected 20k in the name "building fees". Now, After completion of one academic year I pay approximately 1.08 lakhs. Added to this 5k needs to be paid as examination fee for the academic year which includes two semesters. Uniform fee is around 3k.
Campus Life
The college conducts two annual fests namely FURORE AND VIBRATIONS, they are one of the most popular and highly anticipated fests across the city. Extra-curricular activities are quite sound in DSCE, almost all the art and cultural talents find a place in the Centre of Performing Arts department of the College. There are a lot of other clubs like IEEE, Arcis, IEDS, Mudita, and coding clubs. Social life becomes quite rich and happening with participanting in these clubs.
Admission
The admission can be taken through two entrance exams namely KCET and COMEDK. If you're born and brought up in Karnataka you can apply for KCET otherwise COMEDK is for non Karnataka people. The exams are MCQ based. KCET is of 180 marks includes PCM subjects. The eligibility is 12th pass, PCM marks from 12th board are considered. Application forms and announcements are notified through official KEA website. The exams happen once a year.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is good, there's no shortage of professors. Many are PhD holders others hold MTech degree Very few faculty members are sweet and ready to co-operate. Sincere students will not face any problems I believe. Most of the lectures turn out boring and fails to develop interest for the topics. Most of the syllabus needs to be studied on our own from YouTube.
