Course Curriculum Overview
Course are a mix of theory and practical. There are subjects that are relevant to today's industry and you can choose electiveness based on what interest you the most. This flexibility was a big factor for me coming into this course. Its great to have freedom to explore different areas of my interest. The projects and assignment were of our own choice and gave opportunity to explore our liking and find relevant information create case studies engage in group discussions and projects. It made everyone excited and things intresting. That said the room for improvement is also there the workload in new education policy is visible and the syllabus has gone outdated years ago still each party is trying to improve the experience for the students and provide quality education. This is the main feature and my main reason of coming to Delhi University and i am satisfied with my decision. People should do their own due diligence before selecting and cource but for me its worth it.
Fees and Financial Aid
I study in shyam lal college evening Which means classes are taken after 1pm ( afternoon) . These colleges take admission at lower scores. Fees for first year for b.com (program) was 12,000 for whole year ( 2 semester). Beyond that i pay 8,000rs as pg rent living in shardha, east delhi. I didnt get any concession in form of lower fees but students with ews certificate or physical disability may pay a lower college fees. In evening college fees is minimal but living expenses are comparatively more. But this course specifically highly recommend.
Campus Life
Fests are the main attraction of Delhi University and it offers various fests and evets through the year not only the students union but the various clubs and societies in college also do their own events and everyone is allowed. These events take place from mid February to April may. Library of the college provides you 4 library cards on which you can issue books of your syllabus or otherwise normal novals etc. The system is lenient and you can keep the books for as long as you want but need to be renewed with a month. Even if you don't do it there is fine of 1 rs per day. College has the best ncc in whole of delhi university also the best hockey team of the university . You can also play kabbadi, badminton, kho kho , football etc. Sports trial are held within a month of new year starting. Student run groups are also active in college like society Enactus entrepreneurship society, Amour commerce society, Gandhi study circle, placement cell, NSS, NCC, A Also the students union.
Admission
In FY 23-24 when i got admission i got through Cuet. First i didn't knew that dehli university is what I need to focus on so i kept preparing for general test exam which had no relevance for b. Com course in delhi university so i wasted a lot of important time. Becouse i belong to general UNRESERVED category i did not get any advantage. My raw score was 689 but it got down to 611 after normalisation thus i got 14 thousand rank in b.com program course and 16 thousand in b. Com honours. Still i got admission in shyam lal college evening in first round itself. Someone mislead me into freezing my seat and paying the fees i could have waited and selected some other higher college but because of bad suggestions and lack of knowledge I missed my opportunity and i still regret about that incident. But in the year i have spent here it's been a good time and i really have no concern accept maybe the fact that it is an off campus college in a muslim majority area like welcome and shardha.
Faculty
In first year some seats of teaching staff in our college were empty. We didn't have a teacher untill last month of samester. Teachers are very helpful and cooperative as long as you attended classes and be respectful. Staff try to personally help you if you show initiative. One thing to consider is that work load is a lot there are 7 subjects as per new education policy. Include 3 core subjects of course, one general elective - english, hindi in alternative samester, one skill enhancement course, one value addition course and one ability anhancment course - environmental studies and hindi in alternative samester. All the teachers are phd holders and highly qualified professionals. Manny of them have studied in Delhi University themselves. There is no complaint against teachers as everyone tries to provide what works best for students.
Other Applied Colleges
