Remarks

Atlast I just want to say that I am in my final year and I don't have any disappointments with my college because as this college is a government funded college and it's fees quite good , it has been rated as one of the best return of investment colleges in India. You also get sufficient amount of time to study and you can build a career of your own as most of us hear are doing and the college is improving again but like I said this sufficient time can also hinder your career if you're not serious for your career. The changes I would like to see was that more emphasis was given on the research field and the placement scene was enhanced a bit that can only take place by the joint efforts of the college administration and the students too

Entrance Preview

The entrance exam that I took for the admission in Bit Sindri was JCECE (Jharkhand combined engineering competitive examination). The pattern of this exam is somewhat similar to JEE mains , it contains 150 questions , 50 each for the section of physics chemistry and mathematics respectively. I had scored around 93 marks and bagged a rank of 246 all over the state. If you get a rank of 1000 or around that you can assure yourself a seat in this college if not first then in the second counseling surely. Bit Sindri was never my first choice but I had to take admission in this college because I didn't do well in other engineering competitive examinations and I had to settle for it seeing it's glorious past and attracting meagre fee structure.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is quite swift in BIT Sindri but the level of questions in the semester papers is more difficult when I see the semester paper of other colleges, we have a sgpa a system so in a particular semester you have 5 subjects related to your branch which will have a midsem of 30 marks and main semester exam of 70 marks. Viva voice are held seperately for these papers which consist of 50 marks based on your performance in the laboratory of the particular subject.

Internships Opportunities

No till the date I passed out of this College, there was no internships provided by our college but 2019 onwards a brilliant initiative that has been undertaken by the college director that has done a collaboration with a foreign firm that will be sending students outside the country for research and other purposes. Currently the independent organisation of Aiesec in bit Sindri is sending students on social, technical and cultural internships every year. Almost 15-20 students go outside the country to explore their hidden talents in a foreign land of which some are along with stipend.

Placement Experience

3

I must say that the overall placement scenario of my college B.I.T. Sindri is pretty much average and the sad truth is that it's consistently declining for a couple of years due to a couple of reasons. Almost 700 students pass out becoming B.tech graduates and 60% of them are getting placed and it's just not only because of the college, it's just that all the core companies for branches are recruiting students through Gate exam and other graduation entrances. Lastly I can say that if you're sound and smart you can hope yourself to big a company offer but yes you can not only rely on the placements but you should prepare for other graduate competitive examinations too. Companies coming for recruitment on a regular basis- TATA STEEL, TATA CUMMINS, TCS,TATA HITACHI, VEDANTA RESOURCES,WIPRO,IBM, INFOSYS, ACCENTURE, MUSIGMA,HAFELE,ISWPL,L&T, BERGER,MATRIX FERTILIZER,BHUSAN STEEL,GODREJ,ALLEN CAREER,AKASH INSTITUTE,GOLCHA,NALCO WATERS,ZS ASSOCIATES

College Events

2.5

There are annually two events or fest that take place in my college, one of the technical genre and other of the social cultural genre, the cultural fest is called Bitaansh and the technical fest is called Sandhaan. Both of them generally take place in the month of March. These fests comprise of numerous competitions and events of different varieties like dance, singing, writing , acting, robotics war guest lectures and many more. Over-all the atmosphere of the college is in a festive mood at this time.Various other activities like blood donation camp , eye relief camp and other social events for noble causes are conducted by 14 clubs of the college. One more major event that takes place every year is the Fresher of the year contest that is exclusively meant for the first year students to showcase their talents and skills.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is quite easy to understand and is very less. The yearly fees of the college is around 25000/- that comprises of 12000/- of the tuition fee, 5900/- of the examination fee and 4800/- of the hostel maintenance fee. You have to pay the mess fee of 6000/- for every two months. So as you see the fees is quite less relatively compared to other engineering colleges. Our College has been rated as one of the best return on investment colleges in India

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes there are a lot of scholarships for meritorious students that excel in different fields. These are funded by our alumni and partly by our college too. These are awarded generally every academic year in the alumini meet that is held in the college for any particular batch. These scholarships are for the fields of batch toppers, for any exams, sports or any other cultural activities. And talking about the loan I don't think any loan facility is provided by our college to the under prevililaged students because I haven't heard of any such scheme run by our college administration.

Campus Life

3

Campus life of Bit sindri is okay not that much fun, as the students don't have any recreational resources to get along.Yes there are a lot of fields to play all the sports but they are not properly maintained and all other sports equipments in the sports club and in the gym have become rustic in nature. Talking about the gender ratio of the college ,the number of the girls is less following the stereotype of a engineering college, branches like Mechanical and mining don't have a single girl in their respective branches. Robotics and debate competitions are held once in a blue moon that too in a college fest that too doesn't grab that much attention.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

We have 27 hostels separately for boys and girls and each has a mess in it and all other bas amenities. The food that is served in the mess is not upto the mark and taste of each mess is different in taste. Our hostels have been renovated this year and they do look beautiful and proper measures are being taken to maintain the infrastructure, 3 hostels more are being built for students to reduce the load on the existing hostels. A new IT building has been built which is fully equipped with all modern facilities and laboratories which was itself inagurated by the chief minister of JHARKHAND Raghuvar Das.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes one of few perks of this college is its tremendous alumini network all around the world. Being one of the oldest colleges of modern India we have seniors in all parts of the world that are willing to do anything and provide all kind of support for the betterment of its Alma matter and always helping the students financially or in any other way that is required.

Exam Structure

The level of questions in the semester papers is more difficult when I see the semester paper of other colleges, we have a sgpa a system so in a particular semester you have 5 subjects related to your branch which will have a midsem of 30 marks and main semester exam of 70 marks. Viva voice are held seperately for these papers which consist of 50 marks based on your performance in the laboratory of the particular subject.

Admission

As I said I had secured a rank of 246 which had made me eligible for almost all branches. So I chose to go for Mechanical engineering because I had heard from its seniors that Mechanical was it's best branch. The first part of the admission process was the counseling that took place in Ranchi after which I went to the college with the first installment of fee . The whole admission process was taking place in a haywire manner and the college officials were not even trying to get things in order . I had gone to the college in 9 in the morning and was done with the admission process in 5 in the evening. There's was no lodge or any facility of food for parents that had come from far places to get admission in the college.

Faculty

3.5

Speaking about the faculty some branches do lack professors but these been has reduced by hiring 100 professors which are giving part time lectures to students and they may become permanent depending upon their teaching skills. And the standard of teaching of the faculty members is the same in a trivial manner

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum exam ready for students of mechanical engineering it focuses on industrial level exposure and for other competitive exams like gate and IES with good faculty who teaches almost all concepts. There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.
