Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose this course because there are very few colleges in kerala that offers double degree. The syllabus of this course gives equal importance to both computer science and mathematics. Comparing to other computer related courses and mathematics courses this course has more concept than them. Students will have practical labs for both the subjects. But application level are very less. It should be improved. This course has six semesters. Each semester is of six month duration. At the middle of each semester there will be an internal exam conducted and the semester exam happens in the end of each semester. The difficult level is moderate.

Placement Experience

4.5

The students will start getting the placement training from semesterfive onwards. Students will be asked to submit their resumes to the placement head of each department. Resume is then validated and training given. Mock interviews will also be conducted for students. Many companies like Wipro, TCS, Accenture etc... and banks like ICICI,SIB,Federal etc... has come as recruiters in the college. Some students have also been placed in Indian Railways. After completing UG I aspire to get a campus placement and get settled. The major benefit of this course is that students will have a wide range of oppurtunites equally in mathematics and computer science fields.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee for thir course is 22500 per semester. Compared to other colleges devagiri is little more costly. But it provides all the facilities in regard to that fee collected. There are no hikes in this fee for my batch but for the 23-26 batch it has increased as 26,000 and for the 24-28 batch it has again increased. At the time of admission the student will need to pay the first semester fee along with the fees like certificate course magazines etc... There are many scholarships provided by the college for students namely prathiba, egrant etc... College also provides small job oppurtunities for students with small payment like data entry.

Campus Life

4

College gives equal balance to both academics and extra curricular. There are many fests happening in the college. Each department will have their own fest and it will be conducted in different months with different programs. Some of the fests are EFEX, ENVI, ENIGMA, NIRVANA, RAVE etc... Among these Nirvana is the most famous. It is a national level fest of department of commerce and business management usually happening in the month of february. College has a very good infrastructure. There are TVs in every class along with high quality speakers. There are relaxing areas and a very large ground and library for students. College has excelled well in extra curricular. It has won the over-rolling trophy in the last B zone. There are many active social groups run by students namely JYOTIRGAMAYA, Anti-ragging cell etc... for social related activities and other. It helps students to become more responsible.

Admission

The eligibility for the course is that the student need to take science as their subject in ther plus two. All the application process is via online mode. Students can get all the informations in the college website. Students can apply through the website and wait for the allotment results. Cut off marks are different for different courses. It has separate cut off for management and merit seats. After the application students allotment list will be published and according to this list is the admission process happening. There will two exams in each semester. One is the internal exam with half of the portions and is conducted usually at the middle of each semester. The second one is the semester exam with full poritons conducted at the end of each semester. Students will be provided with enough study leaves for the exam.

Faculty

The teachers in the college are so educated. My course comes under the department of mathematical sciences and the teachers in my department are all with qualifications like PHD,MTech,MCA,MSc etc...All the teachers are friendly and interactive. They provide notes for students making it easy to grasp the important points. All teachers are well aware about the use of new technologies. Most teachers use the TV facility and PPT s to take classes. Tests are conducted frequently to make students study well. The HOD of my department always provides us with internship or workshop oppurtunities while other teachers do not. There will be a tutor for each class who guides and mentors us. Every semester the tutor meets the student personally to discuss all the problems.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is almost best. Curriculum doesn't influenced me in deciding this course. Curriculum should add internships. Currently there is no mandatory internship, if students are interested they can do internship during vacations. As we are learning psychology which need to be practiced in real world settings, curriculum must include real world training to help students understand things more effectively. Currently intervel between exams are non existent. Internal exams, then semester exams, you blink once, next internal exams, followed by semester exams. Syllabus is understandable, can learn if you try. Exams are also manageable. Real world examples and stories can be included in teaching methods, as psychology is related to humans and human interaction, to get better grasp of concepts. Rather than focusing on passing exam, should focus on the concepts and understand them in-depth. There are a lot of theories to study by heart. And there are many repetitive topics that overlap, but in different semesters.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is Bsc Biotechnology. It is a research associated course. Its main scope is in research. But in every industry let it be medical or industrial a biotechnologist is required. I would like more practical knowledge than theory knowledge in this course as it is needed to be implemented in labs hands on experience is essential. Exams are conducted every 6 months as semester. Class tests and model exams are conducted frequently. Assignments, projects, seminar ,etc.. are given every month.
