Course Curriculum Overview

4

I love the course chemistry very much and my teachers influenced me to take this decision. We have certificate courses every semester and certificates are provided after conducting exams so we are prepared for jobs in an application level and these certificates helps us make our resume more powerful. we also have career guidance classes and our teachers helps us to find our true calling. After every exams we have about 3 months gap before the next semester's internals to start and exams are pretty difficult compared to other colleges.

Placement Experience

4

Students become eligible for campus placement after 4th semester. Since I am in the third semester I don't know much about the companies visited and the no of offers made. I think highest package offered is 20 lakh per annum ( not completely sure). Last year about 28 students of my department got placed in several companies so percentage is high. I am not sure yet, I will either go for my master's in forensic science or try for campus placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

At the time of registration I paid 450 then during admission we had to pay 12500.. then we are asked to pay around 700 for exam fees every semester. We are supposed to pay tuition fees and special fees around 3000 rupees in the second and third year and we have laboratory fees that varies but currently around 500 rupees. The reservation category students have a lot of advantages and they have to pay minimum amount as in if general students have to pay 635 examination fees then reservation students only have to pay 35 rupees.

Campus Life

4

We have Nirvana, ethnic day , onam, B zone and interzone program which usually happens in the months September to December. Our Library is newly built and students can access it any time. And we have many different genres of books. Our classrooms are digitalized and most of the classes are taken in projection. We have football, cricket, basketball, badminton etc in sports.

Admission

This college was my first choice and I am grateful that I got into it. Our +2 marks is the parameter to get the admission and after that you'll have a short interview as well. Cut offs for my course is around 97 percentage.overall admission procedure was smooth and easy.I applied to other colleges in Calicut University as well but I didn't think about them when I got in here as St Joseph's College Devagiri is really good at everything.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is Devagiri college is the best. They are very helpful and supportive. If you ever ask them for something, they'll stop at nothing to make it happen. I like all the faculties. We have 6 semester total and therefore 6 exams excluding internals. I think only 5 to 10 students fail to clear exams and the course curriculum is very relevant. Our department conducts certificate courses every semester and certificates are provided after conducting exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is almost best. Curriculum doesn't influenced me in deciding this course. Curriculum should add internships. Currently there is no mandatory internship, if students are interested they can do internship during vacations. As we are learning psychology which need to be practiced in real world settings, curriculum must include real world training to help students understand things more effectively. Currently intervel between exams are non existent. Internal exams, then semester exams, you blink once, next internal exams, followed by semester exams. Syllabus is understandable, can learn if you try. Exams are also manageable. Real world examples and stories can be included in teaching methods, as psychology is related to humans and human interaction, to get better grasp of concepts. Rather than focusing on passing exam, should focus on the concepts and understand them in-depth. There are a lot of theories to study by heart. And there are many repetitive topics that overlap, but in different semesters.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is Bsc Biotechnology. It is a research associated course. Its main scope is in research. But in every industry let it be medical or industrial a biotechnologist is required. I would like more practical knowledge than theory knowledge in this course as it is needed to be implemented in labs hands on experience is essential. Exams are conducted every 6 months as semester. Class tests and model exams are conducted frequently. Assignments, projects, seminar ,etc.. are given every month.
