- The curriculum at the University of Delhi is interesting as well as flexible to fit the needs of the students. We are provides a wide variety of subjects to choose from.
- I have been a part of the DUSU elections, the biggest election of student union in India. The conduct of election by the university was so smooth and the results were fair enough.
Dislikes
- Some of the college infrastructure is still under developing. The university off delhi under goes construction every year, it seems.
- The washrooms are not properly managed and lack basic sanitation facilities.
- The classrooms in the campus are not well equipped with ACs. And students who come from far off places face such extreme heat conditions.
Course Curriculum Overview
I am enrolled in BA programme and my combination is History with Political Science. The course provides me a through knowledge about both the subjects, including other subjects too that enhance my kbowledge and fulfil my curiosity. Apart from these, i have studies subjects like Fit India, Political Leadership, Constitutional Values, Digital Communication, English Language Through Literature as well as Hindi. The curriculum is well designed to prepare for my real world applications becuase of the effective policies that have been included in the curriculum after the implication of NEP. The areas of improvement in my course are mere. I would suggest that many more subjects should be included in the curriculum such as different languages, fine arts, dance etc. to enhance the talent of students. The frequency of timing of exams is great. I have ample time to prepare for the exams. Apart from classroom notes, i prepare froms sources such as PYQs, youtube tutorials and self help books.
Internships Opportunities
I am a 2nd year student and i dont have any knowledge regarding the placement opportunities of my college. But i have seen companies approaching my seniors for interviews and other internship related works. When i will become a senior student , i may have better knowledge regarding these things.
Fees and Financial Aid
Regarding the fee structure, i may bot have deep knowledge, because it has been paid by my respective parents. But i fill the fees is worth it and affordable. The complete fees for my course was 14,700/- rupees for one year, which is much lesser as compared to private institutions. The college also provides scholarships and financial aids to students who excel in examinations and students who are not financially well. The college has reservation for the upliftment of Scs/STs and OBCs respectively. Although the college provides placement and internship opportunities, but i have not joined either because i am a 2nd year student and they are for the students of 3rd year.
Campus Life
University of Delhi is famous for its festivals, they are mostly held after 3 months each. It may vary college to college. They have been named according to the theme of the festival such as Thunderstruck, Umang, and other fancy names. The library of my college is a vast source of knowledge that has books on almost all the subjects. Classrooms are basic just like other college campus. We have multiple fans and lights with a chalk board. The campus has a huge playground for sports, a separate area for badminton and tennis, volleyball court and football pitch. Many games are played and the faculty ensures that girls are also included. Games for the faculty are also held such as cricket. Extra curricular activites such as Nukkad Naatak, dance, skits are also practiced from time to time. The college have many socities, each related to different issues and topics. Students also set up help desks for freshers amd online profiles are also made so that people can tell their problems.
Admission
For the eligibility of course, one meeds to be a 12th pass, and I got 95.2% in my 12th standard. But according to the NEP 2020, CUET has been introduced to take admission in central universities all surround India. I have given CUET to take admission in DU and scored a decent score, 622 out off 800. For the admission related details, one must log in to the samarth portal and CSAS portal. My admission process was smooth and everything was done online. I belong to the unreserved category and didn't avail any reservation benefits, nor i have any family person working as an Army personnel. The exam was conducted right after two months of commencement of my board exams, well for me, this was a draw back because we at least needed 4-6 months for preparation, but i was prepared enough and the exam went well. The areas of improvement for me should be that CUET should only be conducted for those students who have scored less in boards so that they can get another chance to get admission.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is impressive. There are enough teachers in the campus. The campus is well equipped with laboratories where experiments can be performed. The teachers pay serious attention towards the students and tell us about the subject matter, its pattern and other things. I interact with the teachers during my classroom timings. And we are free to contact them even after the lecture for syllabus related issues. My Political Science teacher picks up the call of students even at midnight. And I remember our EVS teacher who has whole heartedly performed experiments with us in such encroaching heat. Amd my Fit India teacher was so serious about our knowledge that she made sure everybody learnt basic yoga and the importance of good health. All thanks to our Principal, who actively participates in college events and listens to student issues any time. In nutshell, i am very impressed with the faculty of my college.
