Likes

The greenery around the campus makes you feel alive and sometimes when the weather is nice the university looks heavenly.
The course structure and outline is easy to understand and very beneficial, proffessors are very helpful too.
In between theory classes, professors often take students to laboratories, fields, industrial visits and educational trips

Dislikes

During events season, the schedules becomes so hectic. But you'll learn to manage time here.

Course Curriculum Overview

Biotechnology is a course that is a intermediate of life and Technology. Industrial visits and Laboratory classes are held often in between theoretical classes. Classroom are well equipped with whiteboards, blackboards and smart classes, projectors. Teachers make sure that students are familiar with the course.

Class Size: 32Course Fees: INR 160000 per year

Internships Opportunities

Many companies from many different places around India offer internships that you can join either in between classes but mostly it is during semester breaks. Internships can be paid or unpaid and stipend based or not.

Placement Experience

Eligibility for Placement is semester 7 and 8 which is 4th year. A number of companies visit the campus including HCL foundation, ICICI Bank, Mother Dairy, Godrej agrovet Ltd. Etc. I myself am thinking of going into research field so i'll have to do further studies in the same field.

Fees and Financial Aid

For students outside Uttrakhand and for self financed courses, additional demand draft has to be submitted each year which is for example 50,000 for B.Tech Biotechnology and 1,00,000 for Btech Food Technology. Various scholarships are available for different groups.

Campus Life

Many events take place throughout the year. Including major events in which artists are invited from outside. Social life is very nice in the university. Many clubs are societies are here for students to take part in.

Hostel Facilities

Hostels include many facilities like various sports grounds including table tennis and outdoor sports, dance room, common hall, study room, computer rooms, mess and water facilities. There is a separate area for cycle stands. You can't stay in pg as hostels are compulsory here unless your house in near 25 km radius.

Admission

For me personally, I've a huge interest in biotechnology. And I've heard many people recommend Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. Everything regarding the application process and links are present clearly on the university website. Website is easily accessible and easy to understand. Exams are usually held monthly which include 2 prefinals, one final exam and 1 lab exam each semester.

Faculty

Faculty is highly educated and talented. All the faculty members are professors, associate professors and assistant professors. They are easily approachable and helpful during exams season and even on others days.

Good place for your undergraduate degree

Placement Experience:

placements are good here with a avg package of 5 lakhs but students who work reall hard get placemnts more than 10 lakhs the highest package at my time was of 58 lakhs and many got 10-20 lakhs package as well so i say placements aare decent here. Companies such as oracle adobe palalto visits here and they give higher packages to students.

Placement Experience:

After completing 3rd year students are offered for internship.From my university, placement offer for Btech students with an average package of 3 to 4 lakh. placement rates vary by program and year ,with some reporting over 70%placement with average salary of 2-3 lakh. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Wipro,Tech Mahindra Etc. About 50-60%students got scholarship. Talking about the top roles that offered are software developer,data scientist and system analyst . After completing my course I,ll try to get on campus placement.

I choose this college as i wanted to pursue something in the field of medical / veterinary science . I always wanted to save lives of animals/people and was quite fascinated by how organisms function and how animals survive. I applied for agriculture college and was confirmed admission, but I was more inclined towards animal biology than plant . I tried for a medical College too , but my score didn't permit me to score a seat there. The admission process is through a pen and paper mode exam ( objective type ) containing questions from physics , chemistry, biology, general studies, aptitude and reasoning . Some students can also apply via the counselling conducted by the VCI on the basis of their NEET score . The eligibility criteria is 1.
