NIT Hamirpur : Better Academics with Best Environment

The infrastructure and campus environment is one of the best. Located in Himachal Pradesh, the campus is filled with trees all around and cool breeze will always blow your mind. The lecture hall is located almost at the center of campus. However, nearest railway station and airport is very far from college. And that is the reason why some reputed companies do not come here for placements. Nevertheless, it is still great for making memories.

There are many reasons behind it. And the first one is that it is quite near to my home. Being an institute of national importance with great infrastructure and environment, NITH is one of the leading engineering colleges. Also because of less score in JEE Main, I wasn't getting a branch of my choice in other top colleges.

The course structure is quite good. You will find subjects interesting. Though some topics seem to be obsolete.B ut as it is handled by MHRD, hence it is updated when the MHRD feels to change the course curriculum. Industry exposure is expected from the third year of graduation.

No, our college doesn't provide an internship. There's no internship program so far. However, there are regular visits by students of Government Schools, as per initiative by the government of India and Himachal Pradesh.

Apart from academics, NIT Hamirpur is famous for its cultural and technical fests too. There's a cultural fest known as Hill'Fair and a technical fest known as Nimbus. Apart from these major events, there are other events too. They include events by Hindi Samiti, Cultural heritage and music, Unity Run, Sports events etc.

The fee structure has a stark contrast between the upper and lower limits. It can range from ?25,000 per semester to approx. ?1,00,000 per semester (Hostel fee included ) Few structures are based on income and category. If you are in a category other than General and OBC-CL, then you'll get a concession at all cost and Doesn't matter if your income is in millions or billions. However, for General category and OBC-CL, there are income criteria.

Scholarships are awarded to scholar students (TnC). Loan facility is available by SBI Bank situated inside NIT Hamirpur.

NIT Hamirpur has one of the best infrastructures among all engineering and medical colleges. Wi-Fi enabled campus, well-equipped labs, AC classrooms, big playground for cricket, lawn tennis, volleyball, basketball, badminton and indoor games like snooker, table tennis, etc. are available. There are gyms and laundry facilities for each hostel. The food quality is good. Being in Himachal Pradesh, its environment is quite clean and pollution free.

Hostels are well furnished and facilities are up to the mark. Every hostel has the facility of sports and entertainment. Laundry service is also available. Mess food is prepared according to the menu decided by students residing in that hostel. Veg and nonveg both are available.

Some seniors are very helpful. However, the alumni network is not so strong. There is not any satisfactory management of the alumni network.

Exam structure is not flexible. There are mid-semester exams, assignment submission, presentations along with final exams. Labs are according to the course. Classes can start from 8:30 AM and end at 5:40 PM. However, you'll get plenty of time in between to enjoy.

The step begins with cracking JEE Main exam with sufficient score. After results, JoSAA ( Joint Seat Allocation Authority) offers you to pick colleges and branches according to your preference. You'll get college according to your preference, provided your All India Rank / or category rank meets the requisite criteria. They will ask you to accept the seat in that college or you can decline it and continue for next rounds of allocation. Website of JoSAA will provide all the information regarding admission. Counseling details will be updated on the website. During counseling, you are supposed to bring all the documents and seat acceptance letter. Finally, you'll get admission into a prestigious engineering college. :)

This Institute is not like a private college. Being handled by central government, the faculty members are excellent. They are highly qualified and friendly with their students. In classrooms, there are projectors and boards to carry out the teaching process. The student-faculty ratio is better than most of the colleges.
