Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

Law has always fascinated me. Jamia is a well-reputed university. Getting in Jamia is the dream of many. According to the NIRF ranking, Jamia hold 5th position as a law University. But the teaching technique of jamia needs a big improvement. We are only taught with a theoretical approach and not in a practical more useful manner. Theories won't be helping us in courts. We need real-life applications to understand our current legal system and its circumstances. Since all the students are competitive in nature because we all have come via entrances that itself provide rooms for improvement and healthy competition. There is no such extra efforts from the faculty side. Teachers should focus more on case-based studies, practices, classroom debates and discussions so that we don't fumble in the real world when we are met with such situations. If a student has thoroughly prepared for the exams they will pass with flying colours. But there is a shortage of guidance from teachers regarding how to study

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee of jamia is relatively lower as it is a central university but there are two batches of every course one is evening aka self finance batch and the another one a morning batch aka regular batch. So the fee of self finance students are higher than that of regular students but the increase is not that significant so overall its fine. There is no extra charges. Everything is included in that fee only. We have been provided with Reliance scholarship program for undergraduates on like our very first day. There were some credentials like annual income of the family should be 10 lakh per annum. Apart from that we were also introduced to Aajmi scholarship.

Campus Life

3

As a law student in jamia, we have a huge shortage of annual and technical festivals. As I have said their main focus is on academics so we barely enjoy any fest or annual functions. Of course there are lot of debates and moot court competitions held in jamia on monthly basis with a generous gap of one or two months. The range of books and journals are rich in jamia's library. There accessibility is also easy you just have to show your student ID card and you will be allowed entry. Jamia has its own sports complex where matches and competitions are regularly held but no such thing happens in our faculty. Hostels do have their own sports competitions held every year and thats actually fun to attend but non-hostelors are not allowed. There are many committees and clubs but unfortunately most of them are inactive. In my facult only the debating society is active.

Admission

The entrance test for JMI B.A.LLB was comparatively easier if we compare it with clat. But since there are so many students for the course, that makes the competition tough and cut off high. Also the number of seats are very limited. So getting into jamia law can be consider as an achievement. The process of regustration is quite easy as everything is available on Jamia's official site. Students should regularly check the site for any valuable information. Jamia is very generous when it comes to reservation. There are reservations for Muslim OBC,muslim women, kashmiri migrants, pwd and a very bare 5% reservation for internal students.

Faculty

3.5

First of all, the student to faculty ratio is inadequate. We have been assigned with a particular teacher for a particular subject in which they excel. But it is not sufficient. We have waited for like one month to get our economics teacher and because of that we were burdened with syllabus. The faculty memebers are well qualified, there is no doubt in that. But according to me and what I have witnessed, they lack the art of teaching. I mean there are many people with immense amount of knowledge but not everyone can be a teacher. Teaching is linked with both experience and expertise. The teachers are very approachable. We often found ourseleves taking solace in our teachers at the time of need. They are helpful in that way. Our subject counsellor is usually crowded with students and he tried to solve the problems of everyone to his best abilities. So approachbility is a 10/10.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My father chose Law for me and he was influenced from the general mass that was opting law at that time. The curriculum of law is arbitrary, it is very far from how courts work and operate, the real life experince is hardly taught and the real courts and law can only be understood through internships and practice. There should be real practicing lawyer teaching the working of courts at least once a week or twice a month to prepare the students for what they are going to face in courts and companies. The exams were Moderate in difficulty.

At IIMT School of Law placements are better than many law colleges. Last year only around 60-65% students were placed and even though salary offered was quite less but atleast getting direct jobs itself is a huge achievement when number of law students and law colleges are increasing by the day.

At VIPS law placements are quite sorted as in Delhi most chambers have made it a point that their first preference will always be students who have studied in Delhi. This gives VIPs a very big advantage as in private colleges ours is the best.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is relevant and comprehensive in my opinion as it offers me the openness to experience for the course I am currently pursuing. The course offers seven subjects. The subjects changes by semester system. Each semester offers different subjects, therefore, the scope of boredom will not arise. moreover, it will provide knowledge on every topic in depth. I do not found any disadvantage of this course.
