Likes
- The Placement of Metallurgy department is very good every year, sometime more placements in core and sometime in tech field
- Academic Pressure is not so tough as compare to other colleges and this point I put here after verifying with my friends of other colleges.
- Hostels and academic blocks are very near to each other, we can go by walking
Dislikes
- Most of Hostels are very old, and we have to live with 3 friends in a room upto final year also, in which maximum 2 people can live.
- Mess food is not so good as our expectation
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum more or less design with indusrial need, but practical approach is not so good here.In practical only experiments done it's enough no matter what is the results and procedure. Yes all teachers are not like that but most of doing like that only. Exams are held regularly within 2 months gap, sometimes internal exams are also held.
Internships Opportunities
CSE,ECE, EE, these three branches have more internship opportunities compare to other branches, but yes Mechanical, Metallurgy have also get internship opportunities and little in Civil department. Here companies came for role of SDE, Analyst role, and core companies also came for core branches. Overall internship opportunities is not so good nor bad
Placement Experience
Our Collge NIT Durgapur have good placement records.In 2023 batch 84% students were placed in which highest package is around 72 lakhs and average package is around 13 lakhs. Specially in my branch Metallurgy placement record is very good aprox 95% students got placed in 2023 batch.
Fees and Financial Aid
For Canditates having family annual income of more than 5 lakhs their fees are around 150000 during starting of college because many extra chareges also included in that, but for family income between 1 to 5 lakhs they have to pay only 1/3 of tution fees and for family income less than 1 lakhs they have to pay 0 tution fees. And For Sc, St students no matter family income they have also 0 tution fees. Some scholarships are also available on the website of college and NSP also provided scholarship to weaker sections of society. Tution fee not increases regularly but mess fees increases regularly.
Campus Life
Overall experience is quite good here in NIT Durgapur. Yes there is annual fest called Recstacy which is 2nd largest cultural fest in eastern India after Spring fest(IIT KGP), similarly name of annual tech fest is Aarohan, it is also a big fest. Yes many clubs are present which focusing on overall development of studens. I am also a part of club name Enteract, the official dramatics club of nit durgapur, this club improves my personality. Yes there is a Big library also furnished with full Ac and contains lakhs of books here. And 2 Sports ground also present here.
Admission
As everyone knows first you have to qualify jee mains exam with good rank, then you have to go through the josaa counselling. It is come under Central government, you have to fill the registration form online and also fill your choice of college and branch, according to your all india rank, you will get a seat into any nit, iit, etc. Yes reservation are here like for obc, sc, st and home state candidates some seats are fixed.
Faculty
Most of the Faculties are quite good here, they are approchable and always ready to help us. The Faculty to Students ratios here are 1:6.Faculties are always giving guidance in each stage and supportive in nature and motivating us to do big things in life.
