What Students Say
Likes
- DYPIEMR has a pretty good college campus comparing it with other colleges in the city. The campus is pretty big so we have a lot of space for leisure activities and we have 3 college canteens.
- The attendance is not a big issue, even you don't meet the 75% criteria and you just crossed 50% you can still sit for exams and get good internal marks only keep good relations with the faculties.
- Clubs in the college are pretty much active around the year. The cultural club takes part in various competition about every 2 months. Plenty of opportunities from astronomy, communication skills to placement related stuff.
Dislikes
- Few faculties aren't that much interested in gaining the attention of the class while teaching. They are undoubtedly experts in their respective fields, but few fail to engage the class and make the lecture a bit boring.
- Holidays are a bit of a problem for me as the college has almost 1 month of year break and 15-20 days of semester break. However, this is controlled by the university itself.
- There is no specific official college hostel facility of the college. Although there are many good hostels around the college area, but college doesn't provide anything so.
Course Curriculum Overview
The Artificial Intelligence and Data Science course started in 2020, so it is not that outdated. The course is pretty up-to-date. The subjects in the 2nd year are good but the chapters in the subjects could have been better. The Artificial Intelligence subjects are in the 5th semester and the Data Science subjects are in the 6th Semester. The courses are good for normal placement, you just have to put a bit more effort into the placement. But if you wish to get a good placement then you cannot rely on the course curriculum and that's where the course can be improved a bit. We have 5 exams in 1 semester, 1 insem and 1 endsem are direct from the university and are the most useful while there are 2 unit tests and 1 prelims and viva for internal marks.
Internships Opportunities
The college has a tie-ups with many companies that provide direct internships to the students. The majority of the internships are paid while few are free internships. Students also opt for their internships and a few of them got internships in DRDO, Amazon, and Microsoft up to 1 lakh as a stipend.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placement from the 7th semester itself. Last year a ton of companies visited the campus right from TCS, Infosys, and Accenture to ZS associates, Veritas, etc. There is a good opportunity for nontech branches also in the college, the package is not high but it is good. According to the college, almost 78% of students got the placements. The highest packages were 45 LPA Amazon, 44 LPA Microsoft, and 36.5 LPA D.E.Shaw. The majority of the placements above 12 LPA were off campus, few were on campus. My plans after getting a degree are to be placed in good company with a good package
Fees and Financial Aid
The college fees for general students is 1,04,000 Rs per year but the majority of the students receive scholarships under various schemes while the payment of the fees itself. There are scholarships for OBC, SC, ST, VJ, and all categories. The fees for OBC and VJ are reduced to around 60,000 Rs per year and for SC, ST is as low as 5-2000 per year. For General category students whose annual income is less than 8lakhs have a scholarship named EBC, through which the fees are reduced to 60000 Rs Per year. There is a campus employment program in the college "Learn And Earn" which pays on an hourly basis.
Campus Life
There is a cultural event called Nakshatra which also includes the sports fest. It is typically held in February. The tech fest of the college is called Techno-Fiesta and it is held around March as soon as the Cultural fest is completed. There are 3-4 libraries on the campus with their respective reading rooms where most students study. The library includes all the books related to our courses. The college has many labs which are important for the course. There are Lab lectures almost every day. The labs the equipment and the computers are well-updated. The sports is not a big forte of the college, but there is a sports fest in the college which includes almost all the major sports. Other activities include drama(natak) competitions, singing, sketching, dancing, debate, motorsports, esports, communication, and hackathons competitions from time to time in college.
Admission
To get into the college you have to write MHT-CET(PCM) and score a good percentile as the cutoff for general students for tech branches was 95 for CS, 93 for AiDs, 91 for Entc. The cutoff for the other branches was comparatively lower. For Females and Category students, the cutoff is lower ranging from a difference of 0.5-10 percentile based on the category and branch. One can also apply for admission through JEE Mains. The admission process is, that you just have to fill out the CET Cap application and fill in the college names you are interested in. If you have been allocated my college then you just have to visit the college and verify your identity submit the important documents and pay the fees. The process is almost 2 hours long.
Faculty
The college faculty are good in their respective fields. Most have a master's degree or are PHD holders in the fields and have 5-20 years of teaching experience. The faculty ratio is pretty decent, it is almost 1-2 faculty for 2 classes. Few teachers use pretty innovative techniques to teach and make the students understand but few of them fail to do so and end up being a bit boring. Mostly teaching is done in labs so the practical experience is pretty good. Teachers are available for interaction for almost complete college hours. Doubt-solving is not a big problem in my college as teachers are almost always ready to solve the doubts.
Other Applied Colleges
Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering - [PCCOE] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning)
This college is pretty far from my home as compared to my current college and the fees for PCCOE was also bit high than my current college.
