What Students Say
Likes
- I am in Arsd. Infrastructure is good, washrooms are well maintained. Canteen food is also decent.
- Teachers are good, they help u with the course. They are friendly
- Convenience to y college is easy, as it is on the road, easy access to metro and bus.
Dislikes
- Teachers dont tae class regularly. Some do , some dont. Also you cant rely on them for syllabus completion, youu have to studyon your own.
- Fests, fairs, and co curriculum activities are in excess as compared to studies . Main focus should be on studies. There are lots of distraction in college due to these fests and all. Also i dont like the boys crowd in .y college.
- Attendance issue. They have fixed a minimum 67% compulsion Attendance which is so unnecessary, like studies are not happening in college, its better that we sit at home and study. But no, we want youu to attend college and waste your time.
Course Curriculum Overview
First of all, i would say dont take up ba program, do honours. My course curriculum is good in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness but eventually after studying so much , this course wont land me up in any job, so its equal to useless( thats our education system). New education policy has introduced many changes like additional subjects like Ge(general elective), aec(ability enrichment course), sec( skill enrichment course), vac( value ability course).., which is good for our overall development and these have increased burden on students. The syllabus of na program english major students is almost same as english honours student which is good, we will get honours degree to we expand our course to 4 years. For the exams, we have 1 set of exams at the end of the semester, each semester is for approx 4 months . So 2 exams once a year, one in January and one in june, ( yes at the time when in school we had our winter/summer vacations) alonside we have various assignments and projects
Fees and Financial Aid
Since i just completed my 1st years so i am not much aware, but my fees for 1st year was quite minimal is was 14000-17000 approx. Also the fees increases with the course. But du is reasonable. And yes you get to apply for scholarships
Campus Life
My overall experience is good, campus life is good, i like my campus , societies of our college are very much functional, they are active and it also takes lots of your time. So if you are here to get the experience apart from studies you should join the society of your interest. But would recommend if only you want to make career out of it. Also for societies you have to attend college almost daily also not to attend class but for that stupid society work. Also when it comes to giving farewell to passing out society members, you have to pay from your pockets , so if you are in multiply society , your pockets will be empty. Also our library is very good, it(only it) has AC. Almost all the books are available, you dont need to buy syllabus texfs, you can issue from there.
Admission
For the entrance exam , you have to appear for cuet ug, and fill seperate application on du site (CSAS portal). Cutoff is higgest for most north campus colleges and some south campus like srcc, kirori mal, ramjas, hindu, st stephen , lsr, gargi . Cutoff for these are 750 +/800. Cutoff for sc/sts and obcs are some marks low. I am in arsd i got 580/800 got arsd ba prog in first round
Faculty
Most of the faculty are good, highly qualified and are very friendly with their students. They take class regularly and are good. But so.e teachers who may also be highly qualified , dont know how to teach. My political science teacher, firstly dont take class regularly also when she teaches , she teaches something else with is not in the syllabus and not gonna help us at the moment. She just blabber gyan and waste our time. At the end of the day you have to study yourself the things. Whereas my English teachers are comparatively good, they teach good, takes class regularly. If we talk about student to faculty ratio, i have 3 teachers to teach us English majors, where only 1 for teaching political science minor soo you can compare.
