Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Honestly speaking, it was my personal aspiration and eagerness to know more about the human body and to help and treat people with their illnesses that motivated me to choose this course. The curriculum helps us to gain knowledge from the lecture classes and prepares us on how to deal with the patients in clinics. According to me, more lecture classes can be taken to clear the concepts. Frequent FAs and Semester exams are taken by every department for the timely revision of the students.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

An internship of twelve months is necessary for every student after the final proffessors. During the internship, the student is posted in each department to learn the clinical processes and patient management more appropriately. The stipend given is 17000 per month.

Fees and Financial Aid

Our tuition fee for mbbs is 1,50,000. and an additional 6000 hostel fees for the hostelers. Tuition fees are the same for students of all years with no hikes or irregularities. Scholarships are given to the toppers of every batch at the end of each year. A stipend of the interns-17000 per month.

Campus Life

4

The annual fest is held every year around September-October. Other festivals celebrated at college include Holi, Navratri, Independence Day, Republic Day, etc. The college library has all sorts of books required in the mbbs and paramedical curriculum which can be issued by the students for reference using their library cards. The library also includes a wide study space for students on two floors of the building. The classrooms are well-lit and furnished with proper AC and duct systems within the buildings and hospitals. There are smartboards in each lecture hall and demo room where students are taught digitally using presentations. Sports are given equal importance in the college. Annual sports fest-Phoenix and various sports leagues are held throughout the year.

Hostel Facilities

4

Each student is provided with a bed, cupboard, table, and chair of their own in their room. Water and electricity are available 24*7 in the hostels. A three-course meal is provided with evening snacks in the mess with special meals during occasions. The hostel allotment is done by the college authorities after the admission process is completed giving preference especially to those who live outside the state or city. Many PGs and rooms are also available near and around the college for those who prefer to stay on rent outside.

Admission

Eligibility is determined by the NEET-UG score of students. As our college is located in the capital city Dehradun, its cutoff is slightly higher than other colleges located in the state (Uttarakhand). The whole application process including the forms, dates, application fees, etc. is decided by the NMC at the national level and Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Medical University (HNBUMU) at the state level. Reservation seats are available for the SC, ST, OBS, EWS, etc. The NEET-UG is conducted every year in May and the results are declared by June after which the counselling process begins. The counseling process allows the students to choose the colleges they prefer. After the councelling results, the students complete the admission processs by submitting their documents and other required details at the colleges allotted to them. There are various rounds of counseling in which the students and can apply for college allotment.

Faculty

4

The faculty-to-student ratio is adequate and variable in different departments. The whole batch is divided into 2 batches for demo classes for better interaction. During clinical postings, the whole batch is divided into groups of 15-30 students and further into different units for proper understanding of clinical cases. The students can interact with the faculty after their lectures or in the evening at the hospital, as per their choice.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course from this college due to its hospital. It is one of the best hospitals in uttrakhand. MBBS itself carry an important meaning in once life if they have decided to be a doctor. MBBS teachings here is only done to keep you ready for the real worlds. Case discussions are a regular thing here. Total there are 19 subjects that need to be studied within 4.5 years. Few subjects like PSM, AETCOM module should be scrapped completely. They only waste your time as maximum contents they cover are covered in other subjects and few left could be covered separately. It goes on for 3 years with unnecessary postings and practical where you discuss house dimensions, nutrition, etc.

-Specific aspects is the pattern of exams, that was MCQs pattern and now it has been changed to 50% MCQs and 50% theory. -Curriculum is prepared in the view of clinical knowledge, there are seminars and other group discussion is also added in curriculum apart from classes - The teaching methods should be changed from PPT to ppt + black board, because it's very boring to stare on ppt for an hour - we have to pass 4 exams in one year Mid terminal exam in the end of 3rd month of academic year End terminal exam in the end of 6th month of academic year And two professional exams at the end of the academic year Exams are not difficult, the difficulty level is moderate
