Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose this course from this college due to its hospital. It is one of the best hospitals in uttrakhand. MBBS itself carry an important meaning in once life if they have decided to be a doctor. MBBS teachings here is only done to keep you ready for the real worlds. Case discussions are a regular thing here. Total there are 19 subjects that need to be studied within 4.5 years. Few subjects like PSM, AETCOM module should be scrapped completely. They only waste your time as maximum contents they cover are covered in other subjects and few left could be covered separately. It goes on for 3 years with unnecessary postings and practical where you discuss house dimensions, nutrition, etc.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

After 4.5 years it is mandatory to do 1 year internship from the college making MBBS a 5.5 year course. During internship you are posted to different departments for getting overall experience and paid 17000-19000 monthly for the same by government.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition Fees = 145000/- yearly Hostel Fees = 6000/- yearly Mess Fees = 20500/- half yearly These are for 4 years For 4-4.5 year tuition fees reduces to 75000 So total charges for 4.5 years is 9 lakhs including mess fees

Campus Life

1

Campus Life is overall not that overwhelming. College is very small and college, hostels and faculty accomodation are all located in one small are side by side. So if you go for a walk in evening you will find everyone walking in the same place. Clubs here are not present as such except cultural and sports who manages almost everything by themselves. Finances are always taken from students and college doesn't approve for any finances. Gym is worst here no weights only few old benches are here that my break anytime you lift heavy weight. No specific grounds for football or cricket is here. Cricket is played with football here together. No sports equipments are here we have to buy our own.

Hostel Facilities

0.5

Hostel costs 6000 a year at GDMC. Beds almora and a table is provided with fan. For Summers you may need to buy a cooler to sustain life here. Mess is worst or should be banned. They cook worst food with insects usually present in food. No salad and Raita is less viscous than water. Potato is mostly cooked here atleast 10 times a week you are made to eat it or related stuff. Masala are expiry and recently a rade was conducted where they were heavily fined for same. Registration for hostel and delicious mess insecticide food is done during the admission process itself by paying applicable fees.

Admission

Other colleges I applied for- AFMC, PUNE All AIIMS specially DELHI AND RISHIKESH MAMC, DELHI VMMC, DELHI these are few top medical colleges of our country to get into due to their faculty, college environment, hospital setting, hostels, etc. I didn't get into any of the above because of my grades- I score 600 in Neet 2022 and I could only get into state colleges, so only choice left was to choose any college from uttrakhand and I thereby chose GDMC, dehradun. You need to qualify neet, ug and enroll for state councelling (Students having Uttrakhand state domicile or have done their 10 and 12 from Uttrakhand) or all India councelling (for students not having domicile or have not done 10 and 12 from Uttrakhand). More marks are needed for All India councelling to get into GDMC. Based on your rank in the merit list you will get admission. Cutoffs are increasing every year by 10 to 20 marks 2024- 648 was the cutoff by 2nd round, in 2022- 600 was the cutoff by 2nd round.

Faculty

1

Faculty members - some are good but some are difficult to get a hold off. Four teachers here have a reputation worst of all. Tremendous work pressure, long hour duty, hospital raggings, unnecessary attendance penalties are very common specially in 3 departments here. Exams occur every week thanks to one of the above teacher being main exam co-ordinator. If you think of taking leave visiting home you will be gifted with exam that week so you cannot think of going home. Every festival is followed by exam following day. This year only we have our posting and exam between diwali and Govardhan Pooja - saturday. You have to score atleast 40% individualy but 50% aggregate in theory and practical combined to considered pass Marks are usually awarded to person with good handwriting, well presented text and to the point answers. Checking is subjective. If you're female you will definitely get more marks as compared to male with same answer.

Course Curriculum Overview:

-Specific aspects is the pattern of exams, that was MCQs pattern and now it has been changed to 50% MCQs and 50% theory. -Curriculum is prepared in the view of clinical knowledge, there are seminars and other group discussion is also added in curriculum apart from classes - The teaching methods should be changed from PPT to ppt + black board, because it's very boring to stare on ppt for an hour - we have to pass 4 exams in one year Mid terminal exam in the end of 3rd month of academic year End terminal exam in the end of 6th month of academic year And two professional exams at the end of the academic year Exams are not difficult, the difficulty level is moderate
