Course Curriculum Overview

5

Both the spheres of the course are focused appropriately- theory and practical and there is a good footfall in the associated hospital so there is also good amount of medical exposure, specially during internship and we also have hospital postings from 2nd year itself so that also teaches us a lot about the real world.

Internships Opportunities

5

One can enroll in icmr short term studentship under any professor for research work. The footfall of the hospital is quite good, so there is a great clinical exposure in the internship. Almost all the departments are quite good with excellent doctors and facilities that are mostly found in the private hospitals.

Fees and Financial Aid

Admission fees - 10000 (one time) Tution fees - 1.45L for first year but it keeps on increasing for each year by some amount (E.g., currently I am in 2nd year and I am paying 1.50L) Hostel fees- 6000/year Mess fees - 19000 to 22000 (for 6 months) Sports and gym fees - 20500(one time)

Campus Life

5

Our annual college fest, FORNIX is organized in the months of Oct/Nov and is preceded by the sports fest, Phoenix. The cultural fest lasts for about 3 days and the sports fest about 1 week. I am the part of the literary committe which feels amazing to be a part of. Our college also has various social organizations like NMO and also a social organization, Utkarsh that started from our college itself.

Hostel Facilities

4

A bed, a table, a chair and an almirah are provided. The rooms are 2 or 3 beded and 7 rooms have share 2 bathrooms and 2 washrooms in 2 seater and3 bathrooms and 3 washrooms in 3 seater. The cost of hostel is 6000/year Mess charges are different but mess is compulsory if you opt hostel Mess food is also decent and we get different things based on different days and also food for fast and roza The locality is also good for pg or room renting if one can afford it

Admission

NEET UG is the examination by which a seat in GDMC can be acquired based on the cutoff. The admission process is quite simple, once you have been alloted the college in the counselling, one just had to bring all the required documents and it's done. I also got shortlisted in AFMC on my neet score but was rejected in medical examination because of my cylindrical and spherical eyesight

Faculty

4

We have adequate number of faculty members as compared to the other colleges of the state in each department. In certain departments, one or two of the faculty members aren't MBBS MD so that is felt by almost all the students Most of the faculty are helpful and approachable. The PG residents act as a very easy link between the students and faculty and most of them can be approached in the easiest way possible Mbbs is of 5.5 years where in the last year is of internship. We have our professional examination(university examination) every 12 months and 2 internal examination. Apart from that a number of internal examinations are also conducted from time to time by different departments

Night Life

5

There are numerous cafes around and if you have a two wheeler then good places are nearby to be visited like cafes and malls and Mussorie, Rishikesh aren't also too far for the weekends. The hostel gate closes at 9:30 in summers and 9:00 in winters. College has a decent gym, a library with free wifi and cafeteria and also a TAPRI in the campus that sells amazing Maggie and coffee and tea

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course from this college due to its hospital. It is one of the best hospitals in uttrakhand. MBBS itself carry an important meaning in once life if they have decided to be a doctor. MBBS teachings here is only done to keep you ready for the real worlds. Case discussions are a regular thing here. Total there are 19 subjects that need to be studied within 4.5 years. Few subjects like PSM, AETCOM module should be scrapped completely. They only waste your time as maximum contents they cover are covered in other subjects and few left could be covered separately. It goes on for 3 years with unnecessary postings and practical where you discuss house dimensions, nutrition, etc.

-Specific aspects is the pattern of exams, that was MCQs pattern and now it has been changed to 50% MCQs and 50% theory. -Curriculum is prepared in the view of clinical knowledge, there are seminars and other group discussion is also added in curriculum apart from classes - The teaching methods should be changed from PPT to ppt + black board, because it's very boring to stare on ppt for an hour - we have to pass 4 exams in one year Mid terminal exam in the end of 3rd month of academic year End terminal exam in the end of 6th month of academic year And two professional exams at the end of the academic year Exams are not difficult, the difficulty level is moderate

All students are provided the pay decided by the government. 100% of students qualifying MBBS are getting placements. After getting the degree I have a plan on appearing in the NEET PG exam and after qualification, I will be doing features in any of the qualified branches.
