I have chosen mechanical engineering because it connects me to real world as I can see and feel the machine. Moreover I have personal interest in machine and automobile engineering. Provides practical projects and internships, helping you solve real engineering problems and gain industry skills. Areas of improvement in teaching methods . Use more interactive and project-based learning for better engagement. Teachers are more focused on marks not on practical this needs to be improved. Exams There are two exams held per semester that is. Mid semester exams and End semester exams Difficulty level - Moderate to difficult Mid semester exam held in month of - February and October End semester exam held in month of - December and May.

Internships Opportunities

On-Campus Internships Summer/Winter Internships: Offered during vacation periods. Departments typically provide these internships to let students work on faculty-led projects. Research Internships: Opportunities to assist professors with their research projects. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Roles: IT Analyst Intern Projects: Developing and testing software solutions for clients, IT support. Outcomes: Experience with software development lifecycle, exposure to client-based projects. Infosys Roles: Systems Engineer Intern Projects: Software development, IT consulting. Outcomes: Exposure to IT consulting, hands-on software development experience.

Eligibility for Campus Placements Semester Eligibility: Students typically become eligible for campus placements at the beginning of their 7th semester (4th year) in the B.Tech program Percentage of Students Placed: Overall Placement Rate: Approximately 85-90%. Branch-Specific Placement: Computer Science: 95-100% Electronics and Communication: 90-95% Mechanical Engineering: 85-90% Civil Engineering: 75-80% Plans after getting degree I am planning to do M-TECH from Germany in Mechanical engineering.

Campus Life

NIT Hamirpur hosts several major fests throughout the academic year. Hill'ffair: Type: Cultural Fest Activities: Includes music concerts, dance performances, fashion shows, art exhibitions, and various cultural competitions. Month: Typically held in October or November. NIMBUS: Type: Technical Fest Activities: Features workshops, seminars, coding competitions, robotics challenges, and technical exhibitions. Month: Usually held in February or March. Library - library is well furnished and easily accessible for every student. Different kinds of clubs and societies are run by students such as: Robotics society Revanta society Dance club Literary club Art and deco club etc. Lalkaar: Type: Sports Fest Activities: Conducts various sports tournaments and competitions in cricket, football, basketball, athletics, and indoor games. Month: Typically scheduled in March or April.

Hostel Facilities

There are 2 types of rooms available 3 seater and 4 seater 1).Size of room is same for both 3/4 seater 2 ) Individual LAN service is available for each and every student 3) every student is provided with almirah , bed , study table with a chair Cons. 1) condition of room is very bad . 2) water problem is permanent 3) cleanliness is a myth in hostel 4) hostel washroom are in pathetic condition no maintenance since years Mess menu 1) menu is decided by students so it depends on you what you want or add in menu 2) breakfast is good . We get milk with bournvita, eggs aaloo parantha . 3) food quality is not so good but better than PG outside

Admission

Admission to NIT Hamirpur is primarily through the JEE Main exam for undergraduate courses. After clearing the entrance exam, candidates must apply through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) for UG courses. Exam frequency - conducted twice in a year (month of January and April) Difficulty level - Hard Areas of improvement Clearly communicate the seat allocation criteria and the impact of various quotas to avoid confusion among candidates.

Faculty

The faculty to students ratio at NIT HAMIRPUR is approximately 16:1 which make it easier for the students to Clea their doubts and more interact with teachers. Numbers may slightly vary for bigger size classes. Most of the teachers are IIT and NIT graduate holding advanced degrees such as PHD . Approach and Mentorship 1. If you have any problem in academics you can ask your subject teacher when they are free and meer him/ her. All the teachers are very supportive and can guide you very well. 2. If you have any personalized problem there is a mentor assigned for the group of student . They ask anything to them directly by calling him/ her or students can also meet them personally.

Students become eligible from 7th semester for campus placement but you can apply off-campus if you want. A lot of times off-campus placements are of better amount than on campus placements. Almost out of 400 students present in a year, 100 get very good on campus placements.(Almost above 10 lakhs) 100 get between 5-10 lakhs And rest ho for higher degrees although they get a placement of 4-5 lakhs

Most companies related to textile industries come for placement as it is one and only one government college in Himachal which offers textile engineering.
