Course Curriculum Overview
Some subjects in the curriculum feel repetitive like environmental impact assessment and environmental studies. There are also some mandatory subjects in the final year that as a student we feel should be optional. The freedom to choose students' core subjects is yet to be experimented with.
Internships Opportunities
The college provides the necessary help and guidance for internship programmes. It provides help in attaining internships in govt sectors as well as in the private sector and if you are lucky you will get a stipend too. The curriculum has mandatory 3, interships that need to be done throughout the degree. The first internship is a social internship The second one is an academic internship The third one is an industrial internship.
Placement Experience
Our previous batches did get some campus placement. However our batch didnt get any campus placement this year it was due to negligence of Training and placement cell and the administration. Since we are employed most of us are planing for Masters programme , some are trying to get into their work in respective fields and some are preparing for government job exams.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The college takes very minimal fees as compared to other state government colleges. the financial assitance is very poor in our college as the administration doesn't help the poor students or provide scholarships to meritorious students. The only scholarships that we get are from the central government or state government. The college reserves a student aid fund which it never uses. And there are no campus employees in the college.
Campus Life
The campus is not very big . The campus life is like living in a big family. There are many clubs yet they remain dormant throughout the year and are only active during festivities and fests. I feel like the involvement of studnets apartment from academics in this college is quite less than other colleges. And the infrastructure really needs upgradation. Need benches , a campus map , proper security guard . And many more.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is given on merit basis as the number of seats is limited . If you get a seat in the hostel you will have to pay a fees of 8,200 every year . The hostel mess is not run by the college and is rather run by the students itself . The hostel mess fees is very less , its around 2300 per month. The hygienity of the hostel is very poor needs upgradation.
Admission
The college provides admission to students who are from Assam state only. The necessary document to avail of the seat is a PRC certificate of Assam. The college grants admission upon clearing CEE (Assam) examination. When I gave the exam I scored around 110 and the cut off was around 60-70 marks. The seats are allotted on CEE marks and the eligibility criteria is 60% in board exam. The upgrade procedure during the admission process was a challenge for me.
Faculty
Teachers are very much friendly and well qualified. They have enough experience to kill the students doubts. They take daily classes and work hard. However some teachers might need to stick to their core topic of study rather then trying to take classes that are not of their expertise.
