Review of GEC Bilaspur

Exams are held as per csvtu timetable. The exams are pretty much easier to crack even if you have pretty much less about the subjects. Usually, students start their preparation from 4-5 days prior to the exam and easily crack it. Mostly theoretical questions are being asked in the exams. The syllabus related to the Cs and It branch has recently changed and made suitable according to the present industry requirements.

For boys, the tuition fee is 72k (9k for each semester), and for girls, it is free except that they have to pay miscellaneous fees which are approx. to 3000 in a year. The hostels are also pretty much affordable( 9000 per semester) but it is provided to only a few students based on the merit list as there is only one hostel for 2nd,3rd, and 4th year students. Also, there are scholarships offered to ST, SC, and OBC students.

My experience is great with regard to the campus life. Seniors and classmates are very friendly and they are ready to help whenever we need them.Talking about technical fests, we have Kaushalam organised annually which is techno-cultural fest where students and teachers both participate. It lasts 2-3 days. There are various clubs like technical, literary, sports and cultural clubs in our college which organize a variety of events for students on frequent basis.It also helps to develop our personality and make us confident.

In the first year, all the students are alloted hostels. There is only a single hostel for 1st year girl students but 2-3 hostels for boys Starting from the 2nd year all the students are alloted hostels based on the merit list and the merit list is prepared based on the cgpa criteria. Those with higher cgpa have higher chances of getting hostel rooms. The hostel rooms need to be cleaned and maintained by the students. It approximately cost us 9k per semester for the hostel excluding the mess charges. Mess charges are near about 2500 per month. Regarding the meals provided by the mess are not that great but still it's manageable. The hostels are located in so safe area and hence security is provided in the girls' hostel.

The admission process was pretty smooth. It took nearly a day to complete the entire admission process. The application form is available in student section and admission process takes place in the month of July.Admission is given in our college based on cgpet exam conducted in month of May. This exam is pretty much simple and easy to crack.

In our college, apart from the computer science and Information technology branch, all the branches have permanent faculties, who are well qualified in their field of teaching. They hold their degrees from reputed colleges in India. Computer Science and IT branches struggle as there are not so well-qualified teachers in these branches and they get hired on a temporary basis which is why the faculty members of these branches keep on changing. The teachers are quite friendly and helpful, therefore it is easy to approach them.
