Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I have loved this subject history since my earlier days, and as I applied for this course which is very lengthy ofcourse and after studying it realising it is very hard to continue it till phd. But mostly I chose this because this subject will be very beneficial for me in the long run for the different civil services exam. The exams system is quite flexible, the pattern and timing depends on the dept and for to e difficulty level the professor try to set the questions covering all of the topics in a direct manner.

Internships Opportunities

0.5

For the Bachelor of Arts in history this facility of internship isn't available but in other faculties yes. The university does offer a placement program which is not quite efficient for the course I chose

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee along with the admission for the first year is 1250 which is very affordable compare to other universities and the increase policy is not there maybe in the future. The hostel fees depending on the hostel and food charges and 1400-1800 per month. Which is also affordable for quite a lavish twice a meal. The total cost of hostel along with the yearly fees comes 20,000 approx. (including exam fees of 45) Many scholarships are available for backward students and get the money refunded, the swami Vivekananda scholarship and various scholarships are available. Campus employment is not so effective for the arts faculty.

Campus Life

5

The fest of JU are grand being held for almost 4 weeks, by the 3 faculties and even clubs differently. The fest called sanskriti is held by by the three faculties one after the other, with each faculty taking charge and holding it for atleast a week. The fest brings in various artists and small businesses and makes it a very lively campus with people bustling. Even the clubs hold a fest. The sports area is also very effective as every year the university select the best students to participate in different sports for the university games at the national level. The clubs are very active in the campus, holding seminars and exhibition from time to time.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel is very convenient and there are three hostels for girls in the main campus and 1 in the salt lake campus. The fees depends on the hostel but doesn't go above 2000, and the food is also notable and fish and egg is given on a daily basis without fail including chicken twice a week(veg option available). The hostel form is also given on the website and can be submitted to the dean of students who gives out the list for the interview and after the interview gets the hostel accommodation based on the family income and taking into account the distance.

Admission

To apply for this course you need minimum 60% with an entrance exam after the application which is held at the uni itself. Various help deals are set up right after the admission notice for guidance and help and even provide the previous year questions. The application form is available in the main university website and notice of the application dates are given out in the website too along with a notice in a local newspaper too. Reservation are given to ST,SC, OBC A and B, Sports quota, PWD etc from the state. Other states minorities and ST or OBCs or SC can't avail the reservation benefits. The website needs improvement as it crashes very often leading to problems during application.

Faculty

4.5

As I said earlier there is no cracks in the faculty members, the professor are excellent with a very good education background from renowned universities around the world. Their teaching is also to be mentioned, as the classes are mostly interactive making us student be able to freely interact and put forth questions to our professors who are more than ready to help. They are always ready for the extra classes for the students who go to ask for it, which was really impressive.
