Course Curriculum Overview
I feel that it is common to see out of date curriculums in colleges nowadays especially in evolving fields like computer science, but I would say Manipal is one of the colleges which aims to improve the curriculum year by year, abandoning old techniques which may not be useful.
Internships Opportunities
The placements team in manipal conducts an orientation regarding the placements in college and the internship opportunities. I haven't myself gone throught the internship process as I'm still studying in 2nd year, but from what I've heard the placements team in manipal is very important in giving opportunities to the graduates.
Placement Experience
The placements of manipal is generally considered to be better compared to other private colleges it is compared with. Although the recent placement season has not gone well as I've heard, but that is largely due to the ongoing recessions etc. but even after considering the high fee, it is worth it to join manipal for placement purposes.
Fees and Financial Aid
For the first year everyone's fee is the same as the course is same for all, but from second year the fee differs depending on the courses. Scholarship is present but is rarely given to anyone, at least I haven't seen anyone having a scholarship.
Campus Life
The campus life is amazing in Manipal. People keep saying that there is a toxic drug culture here but it is far away from campus and recently on a decline. There is much more to campus life here as there are little to no restrictions placed on you except the hostel intime of course, which is also quite liberal. There are cultural fests. The library is good.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are nice and constantly improving, they are handled by a company named zolo who work very efficiently and offer quick service to any inconvenience. The only downside might be that the fee is a bit too much ranging from 1 to 2 lakhs per year.
Admission
The MET is required for admission into MIT. This exams has no such cutoff as even if you attempt the English section you can be guaranteed a seat. It is also constantly evolving as from this year they will be taking boards marks into consideration as well.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is less in the first year as there are more than 100 members in the class, but I've heard it is better as we break into our own specialization in our courses in the 3rd and 4th years.
