Course Curriculum Overview
The course was well built, but it lacked practical applications. A co-op season would work best in between the sesmeters, rather than at the end in this major. The exams are divided into sessionals and final exams. 2 sessions and 1 final exam per semester.
Internships Opportunities
There are some start ups within in the company, and companies come for internships as well during the school year. Projects are easy to sign up for. They just require initiative by the students. Most professors are looking for students for their projects.
Placement Experience
Students can become eligible for campus placements their 7th semester. Some companies that have come in the past include Baxter, IITPL, Novo nordisk, etc. The average package was around 4LPA and the highest 8LPA. 60% students got in through campus placements and the rest either did it off campus or did it through projects.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee is paid per year, instead of per semester. The complete cost boils down to around 10 L per year. There are some scholarships available but they are based on marks and CGPA. Some are based on financial needs as well. Campus placements happen but they are not vast for the department and a lot of the times are not very high.
Campus Life
There are two big fests that happen, one technical and one cultural. There are both very big and have a lot of opportunities for students to participate in, starting from robotic competitions to guitar and music and drama. There are many clubs and extra curiculars. The sports are quite big on campus on well. There is running, football and other things. There are also various volunteering opportunities.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are very nice, and clean. They are well taken care of always, and the staff is friendly as well. There is a hostel canteen at most of the canteens. The hostels are slightly expensive. Food is at two food courts and you have to register at them but you can also always order food. Also, there are many apartments available nearby as well.
Admission
For most, there is an exam that is specific to MIT and thats how selection is done, sometimes as NRI students you can apply through a GPA or SAT exam. The application form is on the website. Exams are once a semester, and sessionals are twice every semester. They are not very hard, but need to study to pass.
Faculty
The faculty was sufficient as the classes were small. Most of the faculty were MIT graduates themeselves and then had stayed to teach. There are a lot of research opportuiities with them. They were very open to work with students.
