What Students Say
Likes
- Vishwakarma focuses on practical learning more than theorotical learning. You get to build and work on several projects throughout the year.
- The culture of the college is also one of the best in the entire country probably. There is not a single incident of ragging that I have known of.
- The course curriculum is designed according to the aicte guidelines and covers all aspects of being not only a good engineer but also a good human.
Dislikes
- The management system of VIT, PUNE is something that needs immense development. There is absolutely no management from the college side.
- Their is also a comparitive lack of amenities and infrastructure as the college is very small. Just a 7 acre campus.
- Some teachers are more focused on completing the syllabus rather than teaching.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is the best among the colleges of Maharashtra according to me. The course is designed to make the students actually learn something rather than just mugging up the syllabus. Focus is on practical learning more than therotical.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are provided in third year. The companies which come for placements are the once which come for internships too. The stipent is pretty decent which is 10000/- per month. A six month long internship is compulsory for every student in his third year.
Placement Experience
On campus placements are only for 4th year students. Top companies like IBM, Nvidia, Deutsch bank visits every year. There are also other companies which include Acccenture, Infosys, TCS, etc. Highest placement this year was 51LPA nad average of computer science branch was 12 LPA. 60% students are placed as others opt for higher education. I would try for placement after completing my graduation.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college makes sure that the student is aware about the scholarship opportunities by conducting seminars. The fees is moderate and concession is given to EWS students(not if they take admission through spot rounds).
Campus Life
There are 3 campus fests:- VTS, Vishwakarandak, Vishwotsav. VTS is held in October, Vishwakarandak in March and Vishwotsav in April. VTS is a technical fest, Vishwakarandak is a sports fest and Vishwotsav is a cultural fest. There are immense clubs and club events happening throughout the year in the campus. I mean there must be on average 1-2 events happening every week in the campus!
Hostel Facilities
I have opted for a private hostel not the college hostel. The room is quite spacious and the breakfast and dinners are decent. Pretty good quality compared to other hostels. My hostel is located in Katraj which is 4 km from thr college. But my hostel has a pick and drop service which is very comfortable.
Admission
Admission process mainly through CET exams. 80% seats are reserved for students taking admission through MHT-CET and 20% for students taking admission through JEE scores. But CAP rounds are compulsory. You can take part un spot round only if you have taken part in CAP round. Cutoffs for Computer related branches are very high. But other course's cutoffs are moderate.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is approx 1:50 which is sort of disappointing. But the teachers give time to doubts of students even after class. Some faculties are just concerned about their job and have zero tolerance towards students. But there are also teachers who look after total development to the student and give as much time as they can.
Other Applied Colleges
Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
