Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum as of now lacks practical skills, like the curriculum now just focuses on theoretical approache mostly and the practical knowledge is not touched. The faculties are trying the best they can to give us what they know, Our seniors help as a lot, so the thing they said to us was, if you keep on just going with the course your practical skills won't develop get out of the curriculum and try something different and learn it. There are 2 internal exams before the main semester exams.

Placement Experience

4.5

Students from S7 onwards become eligible for campus placement. Before that itself the college placement cell provides training to every student in order to crack the interview. The average package last year was 5LPA and highest was 10LPA. Placements are mostly for CS students so EC and EEE students suffer the most due to their less placement. First AI batch is just going to passout next year so placement about that can be told after that only. Almost 70% students got placed last year according to reports. My plan after getting the degree is to get a small placement and complete my higher studies side by side.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are 2 types of seats in the college: Merit and Management. The merit seats has a fees of 35K per year and the management seats has a fees of 75K per year. An extra amount of 10K is collected during the admission that is for PTA fund and uniform and all. E-grants scholarship is available for SC, ST and OBC students. According to me the course is much much affordable as compared to other colleges in other states.

Campus Life

4.5

In the campus it is easy to take both educational aspect and enjoyment together, the campus itself provides situations for that. DakshaYanthra is the annual techno cultural fest that happens every year during April-May, it a 3 day event and is the best program of our college. According to me as of now all the books and journals are available in the library. The classrooms are well adapted with required number of tables and seats and projectors for smooth conduction of classes. Sports amenities are not upto mark, the students itself have to pool the amount and buy the amenities. There are many technical clubs like: FOSS, GDSC, IEDC and cultural clubs like: Layam (music club), Infinity (dance club), NSS which students can be part of.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

There are no hostel facilities provided by the college, but as the college is in the main city there are many hostels near by the college which are run by college management. Moreover there are rooms for rent also, so students get no problem with food and accommodation as there are many ways. The meal review in the hostel is only ok, the quality is not that good but adjustable. The accommodation facilities are good as of now.

Admission

There is KEAM exam conducted by the kerala govt for entries to technical courses in kerala. The exam mainly focuses on physics, chemistry and mathematics and the paper is out of 600. The difficulty of the paper ranges from easy to difficult. After getting into the rank list there are 3 rounds of counselling that happens. Last year the cut-off were: Merit seats: 27K Management seats: 45K There are some seats reserved for SC, ST, OBC etc. The admission process was delayed very much last time due to which 6 months semester was completed in 3 months, that created great pressure on the students. I hope that gets resolved this time.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty-to-student ratio is perfect no issues with that as it affects the learning experience. Most of the faculties have done their PhDs and have wide area of knowledge so taking advantage of that is possible if interested. But as most of them have done their PhDs the rest of the faculties lack in knowledge and the teaching method used by them is not upto mark. Interaction with the teachers depends on student how he/she likes it to be, mostly as of now the teachers were willing to solve the doubts and help out in any manner.

Placement Experience:

As seniors said the average package is around 10lpa.If you have descent skills and above 8 cgpa you will get this average package. If you upskill yourself with effort which many students do here then you can also get above 15lpa which many seniors got.The highest package was off-campus by an ECE Student in Google despite having cgpa around 6.He had very good skills as a full stack developer.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are quite good, but not great. Because only 50% of students in a class are getting placed. From S7 onwards the placements have been started for our department. But for other departments, from S8 only companies have arrived. For CSE department, many companies are coming which include Cognizant, SOTI, Mitsogo, EY, 6D Technologies, etc. Our senior batch students have placed at many companies in this. But comparing with other senior batches, the placements at our batch is really bad.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.
