Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum I'm in is following the NEP 2020. It offers a four year degree program and the biggest highlight is you can do a PhD after completion of this degree course directly without doing a master's. But a big drawback in my opinion is the need to learn a lot of courses along with your core subjects, for example along with the three core papers, we have a value addition course, a skill enhancement course, an ability enhancement course and a general elective course. I sometimes feel like that is just a burden. Teachers are never disappointing, and really good. Exams comes as an internal assessment in between the semester during an internals week and then the mock practical, then the finals.
Internships Opportunities
The college placement cell avails a lot of internship opportunities with the outside companies. The best part about this college and being a science student is that the DSKC labs in college offer summer internships in science subjects which students can do under the guidance of the faculty.
Placement Experience
There is a placement cell in the college and I'm sure students get placed too. I haven't looked much into that yet. will soon. The placement cell is very active and they conduct a lot of workshops and internship and career placement drives.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fee is very affordable, compared to many other DU colleges it is very less. The college is one of the best colleges in the whole country ofcourse the NIRF #1. The exam fee comes around 1500 ruppees each sem. The practical papers are charged 200 each. There is a Veena Nayyar memorial scholarship which will cover the entire tuition fee for students whose family's annual income is below the specified range. Many other scholarships are offered by the university too. I haven't really taken up any job roles as of now.
Campus Life
The annual fest of Miranda House is Tempest, happens mid even semester every year. It is one of the most looked up to fests in the university. It is celebrated with much vigour and enthusiasm. Library is multi storey building with a wide variety diverse collection of books and resources. Even Braille library and resources are present inside the library. All types of publications online and offline are available there. Classrooms have projectors, world class lab facilities etc. Sports and extra curricular activities are also very much promoted in the campus and the respective departments are strong too. We have different sports team who bring in honour and laurels to the college. There are many societies, western music, classical music, western dance, classical dance, quiz society, and a lot more. Eco club, societies for every departments and so on. They nurture the students' multi faceted growth and development.
Admission
The admission was through CUET, the admission process was all online through the CSAS portal of the university of Delhi. The eligibility to Physics Honours was merit based and the CUET scores in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics was considered. The score in English should be above 60% too. Application fee was around 400, you give a priority list of DU colleges you want to join and on the basis of merit and priority you get into the college. I didn't avail any reservation. The CUET exam was computer based, multiple choice questions on class 12 NCERT syllabus. Difficulty level was easy to medium. Admission process was done properly
Faculty
the faculty to student ratio is commendable. It is comfortable. The faculties in a department and to an instance the whole college is familiar to everyone. The faculty is exceptionally supportive in the Physics Department. One great thing about the college is the Mentor Mentee program where some 10 students of a class is assigned to a faculty of the department and they hold regular meetings and discuss everything from internships to career opportunities and if the students are facing any difficulties. The faculties are mostly PhD holders and some even post doctoral degree holders. They are very experienced and vibrant and always approachable. They try their best to bridging any gaps, always there for the students clearing any doubts on anything.
