Course Curriculum Overview

4

This college is one of the biggest and oldest college in the district and comes under Calcutta University which is one of the most prestigious university in the Country. So the standard of education is quite high here and ourr college has most passout percentage in the district also. Our alumni association is quite big and active and the college offers various STEM and non STEM subject which are not available in most other colleges. So choosing this college is a great choice if you are qualified and the seat is available.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

There are local companies like George telegraph, Anandabazar etc along with big corporates like TCS, Wipro, Cognizant who have held workshops and conference in our college previously to attract students for different types of internship role. However for past few years the college have decreased this type of engagement drive in the campus and due to that the college was demoted to NAAC B++ rating from NAAC A rating, and in recent time the college is again started to held employment drive like this in the college and can hopefully correct its mistakes.

Fees and Financial Aid

Since this college comes under University of Calcutta which is govt affiliated, so you can get all the central and state govt program and scholarship benefit here if qualified. The cost of education for 3 years graduation (semester system) varies between 15000-24000 rupees depending on STEM subjects or non STEM subjects, which is quite low compared to other universities offering bachelor's degree. Although you have to buy all the study materials seperately. The campus employment I would rate as below average as this college offers no campus employment and in rare case it offers internship opportunities that too if a faculty is proactively takes steps to arrange campus internship drive. The alumni association although big and renowned in helping students in their study don't really do anything in terms of campus employment drive.

Campus Life

4

The campus life in this college is quite fun and casual if you want a fun college life, but it is a bit crowded due to college area being small. But there is all kind of quiet and peaceful places around the campus where you can study, relax in the break time or enjoy your meal. There is also national cadet corps office in our campus for the youths who are interested in serving in the armed forces. We also have a sports ground outside the campus and our college's own football team. There is also different clubs and cell situated in our college campus with different activities and mentor assigned from the faculties.

Admission

Due to high number of seats available in this college it is relatively less hard to get into this college if have performed decently in your 12th exam. The whole application form fill up process happens through online portal of the college's website. However the challan can be paid both through online and offline method. There is no entrance exam for admission in this college and admission in purely based on 12tg exam merit. There is all kind of reservation benefits available from designated seats to challan relief etc. There is 6 semester exam held in the span of 3 years, and the to qualify for this semesters students have to have mandatory 75% attendance rate with 90% attendance in practical classes. The exams are quiet easy if you study a bit every day round the year. There are some professors who are sometimes lazy and difficult to learn from but overall they are all very helpful.

Faculty

4.5

The faculties are generally very helpful and chill towards the students. They act professionally and provide students will all the necessary study material and notes to help them prepare for the exam. The HOD of every department are very proactive when the college organises any cultural program or freshers celebration or passout ceremony. They even helps us during their non teaching hours too when they are not in college.

Other Applied Colleges

Dinabandhu Institution | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Computer Science)

I didn't like the college's location as it is a hassle to commute there daily.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum was well-structured, and each semester, there were projects and presentations that also helped to test our knowledge. I got influenced as the curriculum provides us with financial economics, political economics, and Applied mathematics. The level of the exams was decent, related to the course. They could improve in teaching more practical knowledge and projects related to that, instead of only learning in a theoretical way.

Placements and job oppurtinities are less since this is an undergraduate college offwering honours degree. Though there is a placement and career councelling cell that looks over this matter. Placements are offered only in a few subjects, such as industrial chemisrty and computer science. The rate of placements are very high and come with high packages. Though I am not interested in placements, but I have started taking preparations for compititive exams. Such preparations are very supported here, rather than jobs and placements.
