Course Curriculum Overview

4

Literature is something I loved since schooling. I remember going to school library and reading a lot of Shakespeare's novels and other books. I always admired world of Shakespeare. My interest in books and literature made me choose English literature. When I was searching for a good college, a lot of people suggested Nehru College which had the best faculties of English. College was a bit far from home but I decided to give it a try which was worth it. I had the best experience in nehru. The curriculum evaluation makes sure that all the objectives required for a student is fulfilled. They make sure that the students are getting the best possible way of learning. Also they give us insights about the further studies. Along with academics, the faculties make sure that they prepare us for various competitive exams like UGC NET. The only area where the literature students face stress is exams. The paper is very lengthy that students find it difficult to complete the exam on time.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

College provides internship for the students who belong to commerce and other computer departments only. There is no specific internship for students belonging to arts field. I wish students belonging to arts and other departments also had an opportunity to do internship.

Fees and Financial Aid

Since Nehru College is an aided college both merit based as well as management based admission takes place in college. Students who get admission through merit doesn't have to pay a huge amount. They only need to pay 2000 per year. But the students who got admission through management, the fee is about 80000 for 2 years. No other money is to be paid in the name of donation or charity. Also there is an ease of fee for those belonging to economically weaker sections. Students belonging to SC ST caste need to pay only a very small amount. Also the college offers a lot of scholarship for the students. Students get scholarship like e- grantz. there is also single girl child scholarship. Students who are getting scholarship need not pay any examination fee as well. But students who doesn't have any scholarship has to pay the examination fee in every semester. One backdrop about the college is that it doesn't provide campus recruitment. But the faculties are trying to look through this issue.

Campus Life

5

The overall experience I had in nehru college was amazing. The college, teachers, facilities, various programmes conducted everything make it highly memorable. Life in nehru made me a different person. The campus not only focuses on academics but also on various other co curricular activities like dance sports etc. College conducts a lot of curricular activities every year. Starting with freshers day for the newly come students. Then there is college day/arts day where every students of college can participate and do whatever they are good at. Then there is union day where the students selects their chairman for the academic session. Then there is kalotsavam which is an inter college competition. Library in nehru college is large and wide. There are all the books that a student needs. Also there are various types and genres of journals available. College also has two computer labs with good and latest computers. Nehru also has various clubs for students.

Admission

There was no entrance exams to get into college. The students have to register in kannur University website and apply for the college's coming under the kannur University. Students can choose upto 10 colleges they would like to take admission into. The students should prioritise their top priority. And during allotment the students get admitted to various college of their choices. If the students met the cut off that the college has decided then they would make it to their top prioritised college. There is usually 5 allotments. The cut off will be based on your marks scored in ug programme. If you got good percentage then you will get the top college you opted otherwise any college out of the list that you have provided.

Faculty

4.5

Each and every faculty of nehru college is highly educated and intelligent. The teachers not only give us insights about the subject only but also about the outside world as well. They make sure that bookish knowledge is not the only knowledge a student should possess. Teachers also give us a lot of idea about all the competitive exams and make sure we grab each and every opportunity. Teachers make the classroom learning interesting by making it an interactive session. They make sure each and every individual participate in the group discussion. In this way the teachers make the student to handle each and every situation in a very confident manner. Teachers also make use of smartroom to bring a change from classroom lectures. Teachers are also very approachable. Every student can go to any staff with their problems. Teachers are more like any friend from college with whom we can talk anything and everything. They are the best mentors any college can ever have.

Placement Experience:

they do offer placements for both ug and pg. But For Pg Structured palcements are limited. For Pg students, especially in commerce and management placement oppartunites are offered. Companies like Federal Bank, Deloitte mostly offered. Since we had no placements, iam focusing currently on content creation and writing, actively working with online media due to my creative interest.

I got to know more about the rules and regulations, and functionality of my country during the course. the course teaches the structure of Indian democracy, its functions etc. It digs deep into politics of the country making sure that when students graduate they have enough info to face reality with politics for india. we learned about constitutions and structure of many major countries. Exams were conducted not according to the rest of the students for us. we had late exams and hence late results and late graduation. difficulty level of exams if you study well enough you can crack it. its theory based degree

The classes were conducted on planned and time keeping. Well covered syllabus before the university exams. Continuous evaluation and revisions on subjects made thr concept clear to a student. Timing of class hours is from 10am to 3pm around 3:30pm all students left the college after classes. There were three breaks for refreshing, i. e, for morning hour, lunch, evening hour breaks.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is mainly based on contemporary relevant issues. Neither than a revised version our syllabus is mainly based on self thinking rather than spoon feeding. Most of the peoples in our syllabus are very related to the real world issue such as gender, environment problems, culture etc. In this curriculum provides are different Framework for us to look over the world. Is curriculum provides a different view and we have to change our perspective to look the world through which we study our papers. The areas of improvement on this curriculum is mostly the curriculum is only speaking from human perspective but we have to take the world as a whole. That is the only point of improvement that I can find out in this curriculum. We have three hours to complete a exams. The difficulty level of the exams is almost 8 in a scale of 10. I think a half an hour should be provide for students because sometimes we will be blank.

Course curriculum is good. At some points, it needs revision. The subjects feel ancient. The teaching also need to be improved. The typical lecture method is very unhelpful. Instead they should introduce digital learning. Also the course lacks in-hand experience on the subject. Rather than the robotic manual learning there's no activity involved

Course curriculum is great and it helps us to prepare for the real world applications and also for the further academic pursuits.By the materials for the syllabus were most not available so it was so difficult for us to prepare for the exams and also the faculty face it so hard to teach us without proper materials. Also the face difficulty in the question level as we are forced to write the exams without proper materials. Our exams were not properly conducted they have published the exam date all of a sudden eventhough we studied semester wise they conducted exams yearly and 1&2 semester together it had us so hard to prepare for exams. Also our valuation was not properly done so only fews percentage of the students were only passed in the exams. The carelessness of the authorities spoiled life of many students like us.
