Course Curriculum Overview
Nirma adopts new education policies issued by the government as soon as they are declared. Hence the course that we study is fresh. However there is some gap between the industry tools and softwares used and the things we learn here. They try to adapt it, but not always it is possible to keep track of fast paced industrial technology, hence they focus on fundamentals.
Internships Opportunities
It is a compulsory course we have to do, that is we have to go for summer internship between 6th and 7th semester. If we have personal contacts in an industry or have found an internship for ourselves we can go there by taking NOC or else the department provides us with a few options to chose from. The students that are finalized for the department internship are based on the scores obtained by them till 5th Sem. After completion of the internship, the students are required to submit a report on the internship and also present their experience and learnings.
Placement Experience
The students become eligible for placements from the final year that is from the 7th semester itself. The companies make offer of internship+PPO to the students as the 8th semester is internship based. The top companies visiting in our branch are TATA, Worley, Schneider Electric, HUL, etc. The top package offered was 13LPA in the last year while the average package was about 5LPA. 95% students were placed and some students also received more than 1 offers. Speaking about me, I am planning to take the placement if I am offered a decent package and a desired role and then go for masters after 1 or 2 years.
Fees and Financial Aid
It is a well reputed private institution and hence also a bit costly, as the tuition fees is 2 lakhs per year. Currently it has increase to 2.30 lakhs per annum. However there are various scholarships provided by the college itself and also by various institutions in which you can apply for one. Also comparing it with the placements that the college offers then it is worth the cost.
Campus Life
The list of clubs in the university is exhaustive. There are clubs for almost all kinds of people focusing on different interests. The annual fests of each club are held throughout the year. There would be an event going on every 15 days or less in the university which you can attend. The technology institute has been implied with lot of restrictions for conducting events, that is the club's of technology institute are not allowed much. There is a branch club for every branch and also some institute level clubs and many different institute clubs. One such club is MESA, mechanical engineers students association, which is one very popular club in the university.
Admission
The admission can be taken using 2 methods:- 1. Through ACPC ranking 2. Through JEE result The ACPC ranking cutoff for mechanical engineering course during my time was 5000 approximately. The JEE ranking cutoff was 85 percentile. There are reservation benefits provided, depending on your caste the criteria is less for the admission in both the processes.
Faculty
The faculties are really helpful and have good knowledge in their fields, for a particular course 1 to 2 faculties are assigned for a particular batch, besides them we also have faculty advisors whom we can approach for our personal concerns and help. Almost all the faculties have completed their Phd and those who haven't are currently pursuing it. Faculties are friendly and helpful, their aim is to make the students learn new things and help them in their endeavours.
