Remarks
College management is chill. However, in disciplinary actions, college leaves no mercy. They take strict actions against the students in case of ragging making a safer environment for students. If you want to enjoy your 4 years in a fun, then do give a shot for your career in DTU. This college will give you a journey worth remembering.
Course Curriculum Overview
The overall curriculum involves the same course for every first-year student where they have to study basics about every branch. Then, in the second year, we have course-specific subjects. Apart from that, we have communication skills in the first year, technical communication in the third year to help students for interviews. In the third year, we have electives and reintroduction of minor projects in the third year is also in the queue. Apart from that, students often take site visits, industrial visits, industrial trips, etc. Thus it gives us practical knowledge and how to deal in the corporate world in the future too.
Placement Experience
College provides internships to those students who apply under USIP. The internships are under college only where students are recruited through interviews and test and work in various departments under faculty. Apart from that, the college invites big companies like TATA power, Qualcomm, etc in the third year to provide internships to students where stipend ranges from 15-50 thousand rupees per month depending on the type of work. Some of the companies even offer PPO(pre-placement offer) to some students.
College Events
There are 5 fests organized each year primarily in even semester- Yuvaan, literature and film festival in January, biggest cultural event Engifest in February, Techfest Invictus, Techno-management fest Innova and sports fest Aahvaan in March. The DTU fests are lit which are the biggest cultural extravaganza anyone can attend, from any college. Most of the fests are for 3 days. Yuvaan is the only literature fest of its kind, the biggest literature fest in India with this year being the best. Engifest is the biggest North Indian fest with the participation of 80000 as footfall in 2017.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees are among the lowest in similar government engineering colleges with such a reputation. It is about 1,51,000 this year while the previous year it was 1,38,000. There is a rise by a certain amount each year which cumulates to around 6.5 to 7 lakhs for 4 years of college. The fees are required to be paid at the start of the semester in one go. Alongside the first year, fees are paid in 2 stages. To JAC as 75000 first time, then rest at the start of the semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college offers fee concession every year of about 50% to the needy students and even 100% to some who cannot afford the fees. It requires form filling and attending the interview. Otherwise, with government aid, you can avail interest-free student loans which the student will pay once placed. Otherwise, there are numerous scholarships programs run by the central government under national scholarship portal(NSP) and by Delhi govt also called the merit-cum-means giving 100% to students with ration card and income below 1 lakh per annum, 50% to students with family income below 2.5 lakhs.
Campus Life
Campus life is awesome with 168 acres campus having hot-spots like Mech-C (the main canteen), Mic-mac(adda for hostelers and the place for paranthas), Amul for chilling, Nescafe for a cup of coffee and a small treat and the juice hut all around the OAT(open-air theatre). There is no scene of any kind of harassment on any basis, the environment is cool and peaceful. There are numerous cultural societies out of which Pratibimb(theatre society) and Madhurima(music society) are most active. We have Nrityangana(dance society), Kalakriti(art society) and many other societies like the robotics society SR, numerous coding societies, e-cell (entrepreneurship cell).
Alumni/Alumna
College often organizes events where they invite their alumni to share their experiences and motivate the students for life. The seniors are very helpful with no sight of ragging or any similar kind of harassment. They help you whenever you ask them. However here at DTU, we follow the Sir/Mam trend to call the seniors. The DTU student association and other groups help the juniors with notes, previous year question papers, books and all that. Apart from that, seniors help you with different aspects of co-curriculum activities as well.
Admission
After clearing the JEE mains examination the college admission process takes place through the JAC Delhi website which conducts admissions for DTU, IIT, NSIT, and IGDTUW. You have to fill online form for the admission around May-June and then fill the choices for all the courses, DTU offers 15 undergraduate courses. Then, after a month or so, cut-off lists are declared. If you get the name in the first list, then you need to visit the college and get admission in that course, which is a step-by-step simple process and you need to pay 75000 fees to JAC at that time.
Faculty
Excluding some of the faculty members, rest maximum teachers are not so good. For studying in this college you need to rely on yourself and YouTube lectures. Self-made notes are treasures during exams. Relying on teachers is waste of time. You'll need to issue books from library and book bank. Apart from that, the faculty members are supportive, but in terms of teaching they are not up to the mark, however, some of them are really brilliant but the number is quite less. Apart from that, some also take the pain for you and help throughout the semester and even after the semester too.
