Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

A complete variety of courses are available for whichever field a student wants to pursue. There are courses for Product Design, Robotics, Automotives, Data Communication, Drama, Current Affairs, Management studies, Finance and so much more. Whatever a student wishes to study, he can do it whilen pursuing his core discipline. Not all courses have real-world application, but the ones that do always involve assignments and tests that train you for the same. Each course has different exam schedule as per the proffesor's wish, so no fixed routine of exams for any one student.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

- 2nd year students get to do a free summer internship in top companies of India thorugh the college and don't have to worry too much about building their resume or CV as the companies come through the college - 3rd year students participate in a Summer Internship season as their 1st semester starts where they get an internship sorted for the summer after their 3rd year. It's like pseudo-placement season, especially for all IT/CS aspirants - We have our own start-up hub that constantly offers internships of all kinds

Placement Experience

3

Only final year students are eligible for placements and they are given an option of appearing for it in either 1st or 2nd semester of their final year as per their wish. All big companies come here like Tata, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, IndianOil, Hindalco etc. At least 50% of the students appearing for placements get an offer between 10 - 15 Lakhs for core branches and 15-20 lakhs for electrical, and 20-25 for IT. Many Core students however shift to higher studies like MBA and Masters. As to what I will do, it is still undecided.

Fees and Financial Aid

It is a private college, so tuition fees are high obviously. Follows a 10% increase rule, as far as I know. For a 4-year course the cost is about 25 Lakhs, but there are merit-based scholarships per semester, and merit-cum-need scholarships as well. Emails for various other scholarships are always coming in the university inbox as well. Limited campus employment opportunity, you can be a teaching assistant at max, nothing else

Campus Life

4.5

3 Fests - 1 Sports (BOSM), 1 Cultural (OASIS) and 1 Tech-fest (APOGEE), held in September, Novemeber and March respectively. The library is very extensive and has multiple books and journals to read and learn. Each classroom has a projector and proffessors often use them to teach via PPT slides. Every class has a mic and speaker so everyone can hear clearly. Sports facilities are good, although it often gets cramped for space in peak times. Several clubs are present on campus that offer you various chances for you to explore your extra-curricular interests. All clubs, tech teams and fest organizing committees are student-run. We raise the money for the fests ourselves and participate in all national competitions with minimal support from the institute. It makes a lot more independent and well-prepared for the future than other colleges where the institute does a lot of funding.

Hostel Facilities

3

- Decent hostels, the company is what matters - Decent food, but don't expect too much - Overall affordable - Each hostel has inbuilt courtyard to let people play sports whenever they want to with their friends

Admission

BITS has a no-reservation policy, so the only way to get in is on pure merit. There is direct admission for any board topper however. The application form can be found on BITSAT website, which has all other necessary details as well. 2 exams are held, whose difficulty level is equal to Jee mains. It is a typical admission process, but cut-offs can vary depending on the overall performance of students that year.

Faculty

4

Almost every faculty member has a Ph.D, and very active in publishing in all research journals. THis is true for all departments here - CS, Mechanical, Biology etc. In first-year, the teacher to student ratio us very high, but as you reach the higher years, it decreases which makes interaction with faculty easier. All professors are welcoming to willing students and will never not entertain your queries. You can just drop by their chambers, and if they are free they will help you out. You can even do research projects under them if you wish to.
