Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

As i am interested in kitchen and wanna be a chefin future this college is a saviour for me as there is a lot of scope for getting in a corporate line and a great position in the industry, though the syllabus is quite extensive to complete as the new JNU. syllabus has been implemented its almost double of the IGNOU batch and i think think this will really help to in the internship which is comming ahead , the teachers are well preapred though they tend to finish the chapters in short using ppt and only focusing on previous year question paper. The exam frequency is too high as there is not study leave provided before the exam and the its too frequent.

Internships Opportunities

5

As i am going to internship in the next december and half of my batch who are going in june, so i do not clearly have idea about it but what i have got to know from my seniors are they get very good internship companies if their speaking power in english is good . The college provides a lot of outdoor catering which helps us to gain good experience and understand how the industry works in terms of food and beverage or food production and the stipend provided is also very good as the students can earn and study at the time which is helpful for students comming out of state and living here alone, the companies which usually provides ODC are TAJ and marriot an d they are very popular for hiring in our college.

Placement Experience

5

As i have not been enrolled in to any placements or internships though what i have heard from my seniors that almost everyone is getting placed in some or the companies so they placement rate is very high which is around 90% that is one of the best in whole india and we can easily say this is the best IHM. The companies like TAJ , Oberoi and marriot most takes part in the interviews and the package they provide is moderate which takes height after 2-3 years the package is around 2.5 lakhs to 3.5 lakhs which increase if one opt for outside the hotel industry is around 5-6 lakhs per annum . My plan is to do MSC from mumbai and be executive chef in future.

Fees and Financial Aid

Being in a HM college the tution fees has to be high as there are a lot of raw products used in the kitchens of the schools , but this being a goverment college this fee is higher than the last year and with the least facilities even after we are paying so much money , being from Maharashtra i know that this price of things is high in mumbai so its understandable, the cost for studying around 3 years is around 4.5-5.0 lakhs. There is a scholarship facilty available for the reservation students in which you need complete some easy doccuementation and that should get accepeted by the end of year 2 if your doccument is up to date. The college also provides great opport For doing ODC in big properties like TAJ so its really helpful for the students to earn money and make out their own living cost.

Campus Life

4.5

The college has well equiped projectors in every classroom with portable speakers and the teachers literally using very interactive ppts to teach us , the library in the college is also well equiped with good managamemt books which is very usefull for depth knowledge. One of the greatest disappointment of mine is that the being a so big college one of the oldest infact they do not have facilty to facilitate sporting in the college. Though in aspects of cultural functions and fests the follege is very active and they are frequently engaged in the activities which really makes us active and going all round

Admission

The main criteria to enter in goverment IHM is to pass you 12th standard with english , and there is beasically no interveiws of GD to enter the college , the form for the registartion is in the nchm website which is around 500 ruppes . The SC reservation cutoff starts in mumbai around 2500-3000 for the first round which is around 400+ you are required to score in your NCHM jee , the level of exam is not that difficult you can try more focusing on logical deduction , english and maths which gives a good score easily and one can easily get preapred in 1-2 months time . The admission cutt off rounds takes a lot of time so its better if the simplify the process in terms of marks.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty is experienced but also some of them are trainee and doesn't have alot of experience to teach which affects the studies of the students. But the experienced faculty plays an important role here to clear our doubts and queries. The faculty is very corporative. We interact withbthe teachers on daily basis as we have practicals every day. The faculty also shares us information about the insights of the industry; the down sides and the upside, how the things are to be done in the hotels etc. this hepls us alot as we move forward in the course. There's alot of exposure chance for the students as there are constant events going on in the college. Very good changes are provided to the students by the compitition and recognition is also a part of it. The intereaction is very less with teachers are very less
