- Relation between junior and senior, a senior gets allotted 5 freshers to guide them during their campus journey. And these freshers call these seniors as Baapu/Amma
- I love the fests here, you roam around campus during fests quite fun
- Sports facilities are great here, everything that you think of is here
Dislikes
- Mess food is not as good as expected before entering the college
- Semesters are very hectic here, among all IIT's Kanpur here toughest academics
- Students here get into alcohol and weed that i absolutely don't like
Course Curriculum Overview
I study chemical engineering which I don't found very interesting. In this course I study thermodynamics fluid mechanics heat and mass transfer chemical process calculation process control chemical reaction engineering and unit operations.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunity are not that good, i would say getting placed is easier than taking a on campus internship. Many MNCs come to offer internships, including Google, Microsoft, samsung, reliance, ITC, HUL etc. Generally these MNCs offer good stipend around 1lakh to 2.5 lakh a month. Each company has their own ways to get recruit students.
Placement Experience
Companies start hiring when students are in 7th semester.i don't remember exactly the companies that came but didn't make any offer but yes some companies do this. Highest package vary from year to year , Last yr it was around 4cr made by Jane Street. Average package remains around 12-14 lpa. Generally 70% student get placed every year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee structure basically is like if you are from general category you have to pay around 1.25 lakh per semester and for sc/st tuition fees i.e 1 lakh gets completely waived off , just need to pay hostel fees. Scholarship are available here, there is one scholarship like MCM most of the students fill this scholarship. MCM is based on the income criteria and also you have to maintain 6.5 cgpa to avail it.
Campus Life
Overall life is good here. Thre annua fest namely Techkriti, which is one of the popular technical fest in India and second one is Udghosh which is a sports fest and last one is Antaragni which is a cultural fest. Taking about library, there is a central library named as P.K kelkar library. You can borrow books easily, they will charge you some if you fail ti to return them on time.
Hostel Facilities
Depends on which hostel you are being alloted here. Some hostels are quite good. Basically in a room you will get a bed a table and chair, a ceiling fan, lights etc . Honestly mess food quality at initial days look better but it get worse by each passing day. You won't even wish to go to mess.
Admission
I was went through jee mains followed by jee advanced exam. In both exams physics chemistry and mathematics questions are asked. For jee mains there is only single exam of 3 hour and for jee advanced there are 2 exam 3 hr each. You need to score 90 percentile in jee mains to be eligible for jee advanced. In advance you need to score at least 20 percentage Mark to get a seat in IIT.
