Truth behind IIT

Mechanical engineering is one of the most oldest course of IITs and it have various apsects in different fields like aerospce, bio-medical, etc. But the now the main problem is the course is more theory oriented rather than practicals. A semester is a 4 month long only with 2 quizzes, 1 mod-term and 1 end-term exam.

Many tech giants like google, microsoft, uber , ola, zomato and non-tech companies like BCG, Mckenzie come for internshipsThese all are on campus, various students also get off campus interns. You can do club projects or projects under profs. The stipened gan go as high as 5 lacs a month.

Placements generally occur in the month of december in the end 7th semester. Stats wise placement is quite good with almost more than 90% students gettibg placed, on and off campus. But in recent years as of 2023 , there is a decline in placement stats.

I don't have much information about fees hike, but as of 2023 total tuition fees is 1 lacs per semester and other fees(including mess and hostel) is around 50k. So, total cost for 4 years would be around 12 lacs. As such scholarships are provided for OBC, SC/ST.

Spardha is annual inter hostel sports competition. Technieche is annual tech fest. Kriti is inter hostel technical competiton. Manthan is cultural competition. UDGAM is annual E-Summit of IITG. Alcheringa is the main fest held in february or march.

Hostel facilities are decent , but double occupancy for first two years is a bit problem in smaller hostels , but pros in smaller hostel is you get in touch with all your friends. Registration process is simple, once jossa counselling is over you will get a mail about further process.
