This college is mainly famous for engineering. All departments have a decent course structure. The professors are well qualified and most of them are associated with well-known organizations and carry their research work. The Labs are above average and many Symposiums and Conferences keep taking place from time to time where the students get a chance to interact with leading researchers and industrialists. Minimum 75% attendance is required in all the subjects.

Students can work under the professors of the college on a project to gain experience. Some companies do visit the campus and take the students as interns in the 3rd year of study.

The Placement is quite good for most of the departments. The computer science and IT department have the best placement record with the highest package. Software companies like Amazon, Microsoft, DirectI, Flipkart, Walmart, etc. visit the campus every year. For Branches like ECE, EEE, Chemical, Civil- Not may core companies visit the campus. Many consultancies also visit the campus every year and hire a good number of students. These include MU Sigma, Stellium, EXL, Optum, etc. Apart from these a few Mass recruiters also visit the campus.

Every year we have a Technical Fest, a Cultural Fest, and a Sports Fest. Cultural Fest is the biggest of all, with the participation of students from many colleges all over India. A Bollywood star/Singer is also called every year during the fest. The management is quite good and the majority of the management work of the fests are done by the students.

Fees (including hostel fees) is around 1 Lac per semester. Additional mess fee is charged on a per month basis which ranges between 2K to 3K. The total expense for 4 years is around 10 Lac.

Students can get a loan very easily as there is a bank inside the campus which helps in completing all the formalities. The scholarship is provided to some of the students on the basis of academic performance and financial condition of the family.

BIT Mesra is a fully residential college. It has a total of 13 hostels including 2 girls hostel. The hostels are spacious with all basic facilities like Mess, Watercooler, Geyser, Reading Rooms, Games Room, T.V. Room, Badminton Courts, Basketball Courts. Boys are provided a sharing (double occupancy) room in their 1st year and single rooms from 2nd year onwards. Girls are provided for sharing (double occupancy) for all 4 years. All hostel rooms have LAN ports with a decent internet limit. Many hostels also have Wifi Routers. The daily usage limit for a student is 3Gb. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner are served every day in all the hostels. The quality of food is above average. All hostel fees are included in the academic fees.

There is proper alumni interaction cell which functions very well. Many get to gathers are organized by the college for the alumnus.

Most of the faculties are well qualified and have a teaching experience of more than 10 years. Most of them are student friendly and do entertain doubts in the classroom as well as outside the classroom. Almost all the faculties are involved in research work and they also encourage students to work on their projects.
